Band of brothers LIFE are announcing their arrival in the states with a pair of undeniably catchy songs. The Hull (that's in the UK, people, just east of Leeds) four-piece have set ears a-flutter in their home country already, and count tastemakers such as Zane Lowe (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq (BBC 6Music), and The Guardian amongst their fans. One listen to these two blistering, hook-heavy songs will make a fan of you, too. The "Take Off With You"/"Money" digital single is available for purchase today via Grand Jury, and will see physical 7" release in 2015.
Mez Sanders-Green (lead vocal) and Mick Sanders (vocals, lead guitar) really are brothers, with matching tats of their dad and an uncanny ability to capture the craziness and disillusionment of youth-hood in their lyrics. Maybe growing up around festivals in a hippy family, yet living in a city that until recently was only talked about in terms of its deprivation is what brings the heady mix of pulp, pop-culture, sex and urban darkness to the words they write. Loz Etheridge (bass) and Rich Lorimer (drums) complete the lineup, and these four best friends write their songs as a single, lock-step unit. If anything is clear from these first two songs, it's that 2015 promises big things for the boys from Hull.
