Phuzz Records is proud to announce the upcoming release of a new EP from one of the southeast’s brightest musical acts, Asheville-based garage rockers The Tills.

On August 26, Phuzz will release Howlin', available as a red 7" vinyl record and digital download. Recorded and mixed by the legendary Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Pavement, Ex Hex) at his Fidelitorium Recordings studio, the 6-song EP captures smoldering definitive versions of songs upon which The Tills have built their raucously fun reputation. The vinyl 7” features 4 songs including instant garage-pop classics “Howlin’” and “Gee Golly,” as well as a digital download card offering 2 additional tracks.

Yesterday, Impose Magazine premiered “Gee Golly,” an undeniably catchy tune which aptly showcases the band’s knack for melody and sheer rock power. About the song Impose wrote “In both confident falsetto and eyes-closed belting, lead singer Harry Harrison sings a cautionary tale about trying not to make choices that screw you over later in life.”

The band’s highly-developed songwriting chops and palpable live energy were enough to land them on the bill with The Love Language (Merge) for their sold-out record release show at the renowned Cat’s Cradle. That momentum continues as The Tills are slated to play Raleigh’s acclaimed Hopscotch Music Festival in September, landing a coveted direct support slot for Reigning Sound and Jacuzzi Boys.

Phuzz Records is the label arm of Phuzz Sounds LLC, which presents its annual music festival Phuzz Phest each April in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. The festival is renowned for its keen curation and fan-oriented show settings, with recent festival alumni including No Age, White Fence, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Kool Keith, Lost In The Trees, William Tyler, Boogarins and more.

"Founded as The Critters, the Asheville garage-pop outfit was forced into a name-change when another Critters, a somewhat successful ‘60s band, threatened to sue. But with the new name... The Tills are reinvigorated. With the new chapter, the band summons the energy and enthusiasm of rookies, while their experience grants precision and confidence. Deftly toeing the line between rowdy Black Lips garage rock and crisp Strokes pop, The Tills offer sharp garage-pop brimming with energy but never stumbling into chaos." - Hopscotch Music Festival
"The Tills are one of the most fun, loose, and together garage-rock bands in NC. Never taking themselves too seriously, they laugh, they fall to their knees, they might even take their shirts off. It was cool to hear them do the old songs again. I don’t really get nostalgic but I’m glad they’re still around. I hope someone with some pull notices them soon and helps take them to the next level. If any band deserves to be heard by a wider audience it’s The Tills." - Fabricoh Music
