FUCKED UP

Long running Canadian hardcore punk perpetrators, FUCKED UP, will discharge the sixth installment of the “Zodiac Series” with Year Of The Dragon this Spring.

Melding all the prime tenets of rock, punk, metal and psychedia into a comprehensive and imposing opus of unyielding enormity, FUCKED UPare sonically and conceptually devouring in ways few bands can emulate. Following the releases of 2006’s Year Of The Dog, 2008’s Year Of The Pig, 2009’s Year Of The Rat, 2010’s Year Of The Ox and 2012’s Year Of The TigerYear Of The Dragon boasts three tracks, cover art by Andrei Bouzikov (Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Skeletonwitch) and will come available on 12”, CD and digitally. Side A features the title track, a seventeen-and-a-half-minute epic anthem centered on dreams, expectations, compromise and hypocrisy. Side B is rounded out by two classic Canadian punk covers from Cardboard Brains and The Ugly.

Relays the band, “The two B sides are faithful versions of two ‘forgotten’ historic Toronto punk tunes. So much of Toronto’s early punk scene had a strong following and a great reputation, but some things never really made it out in to the world at the time. CBC [Canadian Broadcasting Corporation] were commemorating the anniversary of The Last Pogo — a huge, well-known, punk show in the late ‘70s that was held at the Horseshoe Tavern; populated by almost every band of the day, and was capped off by a near riot [it was later immortalized on vinyl] — and we helped ring in the occasion by giving two of the bands on the record a little reanimation care of FUCKED UP. The Ugly are still active to this day, and the Cardboard Brains are a collector favorite.”

Year Of The Dragon Track Listing:

2. I Wanna Be A Yank (Cardboard Brains)

FUCKED UP’s last album, David Comes To Life (Matador Records) debuted at #83 on the Billboard 200. Called “a convincing demonstration of what can happen when a band works without limitations,” by Pitchfork, the offering reaped the critical adoration of fans and media globally and was Spin Magazine’s #1 Record Of The Year (2011).

Year Of The Dragon will be released via Tankcrimes on April 15th, 2014. The first wax pressing includes a six-minute edit of “Year Of The Dragon” included on a separate seven-inch flexi disc. Preorders to be announced later this month.
