Priests' powerful, frenetic sounds are the kind of music that's unafraid to look you in the eye & ask questions. Having previously unveiled Bodies and Control and Money and Power EP cut “Doctor,” which generated acclaim from the likes of BrooklynVegan, BUST, Stereogum, & SPIN, the quartet returns with the ripping maelstrom of “Modern Love/No Weapon.” “Modern Love/No Weapon” premiered with Rookie & fans can also get an early taste of the EP atPitchfork Advance, where it’s currently streaming in full thru June 2nd!
It's hard to look away or turn it down when this Washington, DC four-piece plays: their music is full of peculiar tension, relentless energy, and a kind of thoughtful rage indebted to both waking up down the street from the White House & the typical, anonymous frustrations of city living. Priests’ punk prowess rides that perfect line between sounds that are alienated & bizarre, with an undeniable pop-catchiness.
Released June 3 on Don Giovanni/Sister Polygon, Bodies and Control and Money and Power isn't a record for the faint of heart or hearing. This theory will continue to be tested as the band takes their fierce lyrics & stomping beats to all ages venues across the country this spring, kicking things off in their hometown of Washington DC:
