Stream "Suspended Definition" from Many Arms exclusively @ Brooklyn Vegan!
"'Greater Mass,' the heavy-fisted debut song off Many Arms new album Suspended Definition, is built on a violent dialogue between electric guitar and saxophone, two instruments that equally revolutionized the eras in which they were introduced. - Tiny Mix Tapes
"Philly trio Many Arms play white hot Zappa-on-SST jazz-punk in athletic, hypnotic 15-minute excursions." - SPIN
"Fiercely frenetic, blaring and precise as hell, Many Arms mathy-cum-berserk cacophony journeys into a Brainiac universe of face-melting prog-guitar lickage supported by a ridiculous rhythm section whose time signature chug-chug fries minds." - The Village Voice
"...devastatingly complex and repetitious prog-inspired, punk-jazz riffs and soloage loaded with dizzying time-signature fits that only jazz disciples would be able to hold down." - Dusted
In support of their new album, "Suspended Definition" out this week on John Zorn's Tzadik Records, Philadelphia-based, experimental power-trio Many Arms have premiered a stream of their entire new release, taking place exclusively atBrooklynVegan.com.
In addition, the band is announcing plans to head out on a Summer US tour, taking the band throughout the majority of the Northeast and into select cities in Canada, beginning June 5th at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar (full itinerary below).
Philadelphia and New York-based Many Arms are a power trio in the truest sense of the term. The bands music is a loud, aggressive blend of punk and free jazz, tied together with compositions that twist and turn through angular unison melodies and complex rhythmic vamps.
Many Arms touring ethos has taken their music across the US and Canada numerous times, where they've performed at festivals like Suoni Per Il Popolo (Montreal) and the New Atlantis Festival (DC) and have shared bills with many bands, including Hyrrokkin, Talibam!, Marnie Stern, Nat Baldwin, Tera Melos, Dysrhythmia, Extra Life, Schnaak, Bardo Pond, Normal Love, Inzinzac, Eric Carbonara, Yowie, Les Rhinoceros, Mario Diaz De Leon, and Pitom. They've also recorded and toured with no-input mixing guru Toshimaru Nakamura and will perform on John Zorn's Masada Book Three premier concert at Town Hall in March 2014.
To date, Many Arms have released three full-length albums and one EP. In 2014, the not-for-proft cooperative record label Tzadik Records (owned and operated by composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist John Zorn) will release the band's new full-length,Suspended Definition, their second release for the label.
