PYRRHON: Investigational Death Metal Merchants Premiere New Hymn Via Vice/Noisey; Band To Wrap Up US Takeover

With the official unleashing of PYRRHON's The Mother Of Virtues now just two weeks away, today Vice/Noisey is waging war on the ears of the willing with "Invisible Injury." An exploratory mind fuck of broken chords, warring vocal tirades, and hurt feelings, the track encompasses pure evil.

Comments Noisey: "NYC's PYRRHON sits alone in the fold between a pair of local giants, Unsane and Suffocation. The band clearly leans on its nerdier than thou technical death metal approach to provide the backbone of what they do, but for some of the breakdowns and parts that surround the fretboard wizardry is a devotion to the noisy, misanthropy found on records by Today Is The Day and most of the early Am-Rep roster. It's a mix of intelligent hatred that could only come from the five boroughs."

Additionally, you can still try your ears at the title track, currently deafening the weak courtesy of MetalSucks at THIS LOCATION as well as teaser track "Balkanized," currently streamingHERE.

An unsympathetically viscous manifestation of physically and psychologically devouring extreme metal, The Mother Of Virtues offers up a brain-searing synthesis of clanging death, dark jazz rhythms, demented storytelling and subtle shades of otherworldly psychedelia. Said Dead Rhetoric in an 8.5/10 review of the record, "Able to succinctly switch from a doomy crawl to spastic and frenetic in a mere heartbeat, it's actually the album's unpredictability that holds it together. A calculated version of chaos, PYRRHON easily hold their own straddling the line between structure and disorder with the knowledge of exactly how they're like the pieces to fall." Adds HeavyBlogIsHeavy, "Delightfully off-kilter and forever twisting, PYRRHON conjure some truly twisted riffs and a sickening atmosphere alongside it. It's basically the audio equivalent of that truly terrifying [cover] art."

Recorded by Ryan Jones (Today Is The Day, Mutilation Rites) and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice), the nine tracks occupying The Mother Of Virtues takes its listeners on a traumatic sonic voyage into the darkest portals of musical severity. Recommended for perverse souls with a penchant for the sonic acuteness of acts like Brutal Truth, Gorguts, Ulcerate, Artificial Brain, Portal, Deathspell Omega and Today Is The Day.

PYRRHON is currently wrapping up a near two week run of live takeovers which featured a pair of rituals at this year's edition of SXSW. The band is joined by hometown avant sound serpents, Psalm Zero.
