All genres of Jam band fans will rejoice and rock out with legendary singer/bassist, Les Claypool of Primus when he makes his acting debut (ironically as the band’s drummer) in this highly entertaining cult comedy. Written and directed by Claypool, who has always been revered as a beacon of true originality, Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo is a side-splitting music mockumentary for the massive jam band universe that pokes good loving fun at the legacies of cult jam bands.
Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo takes viewers on a humorous ride with jam band Electric Apricot as they navigate the music scene, make their first record, and their debut appearance at the one and only Festeroo. Claypool’s goal was to create a film that would stand out from the other music movies all the while showcasing another side of the contemporary music culture. What he achieved was not only enlightenment, but also an amusing film that everyone is sure to enjoy.
The movie was originally distributed on a 35 city theatrical tour with special screenings at some of summer’s major festivals like Bonnaroo and Burning Man. To celebrate the film’s 5th Anniversary, director Les Claypool has edited a brand new “Director’s Cut” and the picture has been digitally enhanced.! The new version comes just on time for the film’s digital debut on I-tunes and Amazon Instant. “Some people may wonder why we waited five years for our digital release” says director Les Claypool, “After a long battle to regain the rights from National Lampoon, whose owner and CEO is currently serving a long stint in federal prison for fraud, we are finally in a position to put Apricot back into circulation where it belongs. On this film in particular, the truth has often been stranger then fiction.” Producer, Jason McHugh says, “We have been on wild ride with Electric Apricot and I am excited that Les got to fine tune a brand new director’s cut for our digital release. SYNOPSIS
From legendary Primus bassist Les Claypool comes Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo, a spoof about jam bands told in the style of This Is Spinal Tap and A Mighty Wind. In the spring of 2005, a young director set forth to make a documentary reflecting an element of contemporary music culture which had yet to be fully examined. The notion was to capture something raw and original. He searched for something unpretentious and genuine and he yearned to make a film that would stand out from other music documentaries. Who he found was Electric Apricot and what he achieved was enlightenment. Unexpectedly, while searching for enlightenment the duality of existence was unveiled.
Standing in for the Grateful Dead and Phish is Electric Apricot, Claypool's fictional traveling jam band. The film follows the journey of Electric Apricot as they hit the road to make it to the pinnacle event of their career, Festeroo.
