THE OVERSEER to release sophomore album, Rest and Let Go, March 4th - New song streaming now

THE OVERSEER to release sophomore album Rest and Let Go March 4 on Solid State Records

New song “Fragile Wings” premiering today
February 6, 2014 - Arkansas hard rockers THE OVERSEER are announcing the release of their sophomore album, Rest and Let Go, available March 4 via Solid State Records.

Rest and Let Go finds the band re-teaming with Matt McClellen at Glow in the Dark Studios, where they had recorded their 2012 debut, We Search, We Dig. The celebrated album drew praise from taste-makers such as Revolver, who characterized it as “heavily textured metalcore that balances brutality with beauty,” while Outburn declared, “THE OVERSEER has burst onto the scene with a head-turning and memorable debut.”

Much like the band itself, Rest and Let Go, is bursting with life. It’s a fearless, ferocious album that bubbles with urgency and vitality. It’s ironic, then, that the album centers so intensely on the polar opposite: Death. “It kinda creeps its way into everyone's life at some point, and it found a way to creep into our record,” says guitarist/vocalist Darren King. “Death is such a big part of life and unfortunately we've had our fair share of dealing with it. I guess that's just where a few of us were and are.”
Fans can get a first taste of the album today in the form of the tense album opener “Fragile Wings,” which is streaming for free. "’Fragile Wings’ is a song that really captures a lot of elements,” King explains. “It’s driving, but laid back. It’s heavy, but ambient. It's dark, but has some presence of hope. She's not sure what she wants to be, but it kinda works for her."

“Fragile Wings” is also available as a free download for anyone who pre-orders the album.

THE OVERSEER spent much of the last two years on the road supporting We Search, We Dig and laying the groundwork for Rest and Let Go, including tours alongside AUGUST BURNS RED, OF MICE & MEN, IMPENDING DOOM, SHAI HULUD and more. But hitting the road hard is nothing new for the band, who cemented their road warrior status back in their days as an independent band, when they played 400 shows in their first two years together.

Now, as one of Solid State Records’ “new breed” of bands, THE OVERSEER are primed to make the transition from up-and-comers to lynchpins of a reinvigorated scene. Their goals, however, remain the same: “To just keep playing music and keep being honest with ourselves and our fans, grow our fan base and hopefully turn new people on to what we think is good music,” says King, adding with a laugh, “Oh, and become the biggest band in the world. Duh.”
