Magic Man Premieres Video For “Paris” on RollingStone.com
First Ever NYC Headlining Show Sold Out
On Tour Now With New Politics
(NEW YORK, NY – February 20, 2014) Magic Man has released the video for “Paris,” directed by Mimi Cave, which RollingStone.comcalled "a dark twisted fantasy" in their premiere today. “Paris” is the first single off Magic Man’s forthcoming full length album on Columbia Records. Rolling Stone says the track "referenc[es] the electric-meets-electronic sound of the Postal Service... the whole song experiments in dynamics, switching between the quiet clinking of a keyboard before erupting into a soaring, stadium-sized chorus. The swirling layers of synths, which constantly rush behind Caplow's vaporous voice, give the whole track a hazy vibe." The single is impacting at Alternative radio now, and has already been added by early champions including SiriusXM’s Alt Nation, KKDO in Sacramento, WWCD in Columbus, KNRK in Portland, and WROX in Norfolk. “Paris” also hit the Top 15 on Spotify’s Most Viral chart.
Magic Man announced their first headlining show in NYC at Mercury Lounge on March 20, and the show sold out in less than a week. Magic Man have brought their vibrant and engaging live show on the road on recent tours with Walk The Moon, Sir Sly, MS MR, Ra Ra Riot, and St. Lucia, and are currently on a nationwide tour with New Politics. The band will also headline a Popshop West night at The Echo in LA on February 21, and perform at SXSW in March, Boston Calling in May, and the Firefly Music Festival in June. A full list of upcoming tour dates is below.
New England-based Magic Man was started by childhood friends Alex Caplow (vocals) and Sam Vanderhoop Lee (guitars and keyboards) while they traveled abroad trading labor for room and board on a series of French organic farms, creating the music for what would become Magic Man during their travels. When Caplow and Lee decided to take the band on the road, they added college friend Justine Bowe on keyboard and Joey Sulkowski on drums. Magic Man recently released their You Are Here EP on Columbia Records ahead of their forthcoming full length.
