Next week sees the release of Heidecker & Wood's new record, Some Things Never Stay The Same, out 11/12 on Little Record Company. Hey, they're not strangers to the "new music industry." They've got the street-teamers putting up flyers in local shopping malls, they're paying all the top disc-jockeys to play their tunes, and they've "pressed" over 1 million CD-Rs in anticipation of the release. Oh yeah, and of course, they've done an exclusive premiere of the new record with Entertainment Weekly, who are hosting a stream as you read this.
If you're still not familiar with Heidecker & Wood, well, we're talking about comedian/writer/actor Tim Heidecker ("Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!," "Tim and Eric Billion Dollar Movie," "The Comedy," "Bridesmaids") and his longtime musical collaborator composer/multi-instrumentalist Davin Wood ("Awesome Show," "Billion Dollar Movie"). Their self-indulgent sophomore album, Some Things Never Stay The Same, is an ode to the heyday of the great 70s songwriters/studio rats, chock full of catchy hooks and unabashed ringers with some of LA's best musicians, including cameos by Aimee Mann,Eric Johnson (The Shins, Fruit Bats), Pierre de Reeder (Rilo Kiley) and others.
For those in LA, there will be a Heidecker & Wood listening party at El Prado, hosted by Origami Vinyl on the day of release, Tuesday, Nov. 12th. Tim, Davin, and Little Record Company mogul Pierre de Reeder will all be there. Origami Vinyl will be selling the record and good times will be had by all (...of those who purchase the record. Freeloaders will be asked to leave immediately).
