Watch J. Roddy Walston & The Business’s Magnetic Performance on the Late Show With David Letterman, VH1 Big Morning Buzz
"Rollicking, frenzied live performances" - NPR's Weekend Edition
Complete with shrieks, shakes and of course a “holler and a moan,” J. Roddy Walston & The Business wrapped up a whirlwind duo of performances in New York City last week. Thursday night the Baltimore-bred quartet dominated the Late Show with David Letterman stage with their performance of “Heavy Bells”. Watch and share it HERE.
Then early Friday morning the band re-created their exuberant performance of “Heavy Bells”, a Top 20 track at Alternative radio, for the audience of VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live with Carrie Keagan. Check out that dynamic rendition of the song HERE.
Endlessly shifting from snarling and stompy to warm and soulful, it is this track that kicks off the band’s newest album, Essential Tremors. Co-produced by Matt Wignall (Delta Spirit, Cold War Kids) and Grammy-winning producer/engineer Mark Neill (The Black Keys) at Neill’s own Soil of the South Studios, the follow-up to 2010’s much-acclaimed self-titled sophomore album also finds the band crafting lyrics that ultimately serve as a secret language to the initiated listener with a scrappy yet sublime sound that honors the both band’s Southern roots and punk spirit.
