PARQUET COURTS ANNOUNCE 2014 TOUR DATES
LISTEN TO TWO OF THIS YEAR'S BEST RECORDS IN LIGHT UP GOLD AND "TALLY ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU BROKE"
It's certainly been a year to remember for Parquet Courts. Not only did they release one of the most internationally acclaimed albums of the year in Light Up Gold, they toured virtually non-stop for 9 months and somehow found time to record and release "Tally All The Things That You Broke," an EP that both "gave the people what they wanted," but also stretched out the Parquet Courts sonic palette. Rolling Stone named them a "Band To Watch,"Sound Opinions' hosts Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis listed LUG as one of their favorite albums of the year, Pitchfork devoted a Rising feature to the band, SPIN named LUG one of their "essential" records of the year, and on top of that, Bill Ferguson of The New York Times Magazine and Rob Sheffield on Rolling Stone wrote what are essentially love letters to the band. Also, check out today's "Guest List" feature on Pitchfork with co-frontman Andrew Savage.
The band is taking some much needed time off at the close of their banner year, but they pick up right where they left off in January of 2014 with a hometown show followed by some west coast dates and a slot on the Australian traveling Laneway Festival. Don't miss one of the most talked about bands of the year as they begin their effort to be the band of next year as well!

PRAISE FOR LIGHT UP GOLD
"It's tremendous, my favorite album of 2013." - Bill Ferguson, The New York Times Magazine
"They do 90 percent of what I want a guitar band to do and make it seem offensively simple. (Even though all the bands who keep failing at it prove how hard it is.) I've never had a favorite band that made me feel like such a dolt." - Rob Sheffield, Rolling Stone
Parquet Courts are making a run at the title of New York's Best New Band." - Jody Rosen,New York Magazine's Vulture Blog
"It's far too restless and alive to scan as mere retro kitsch. Songs this timeless could just as easily be from your unborn children's debut LP." - Chris DeVille, Stereogum
"Austin Brown and Mr. Savage...are astute enough to write taut, smart lyrics, and self-aware enough to arch an eyebrow while maintaining the pose." - Jon Caramanica, The New York Times
"Warning: Parquet Courts' Light Up Gold will induce uncontrollable ear-to-ear grinning" - Jim DeRogatis, Sound Opinions/WBEZ.org
4 out of 4 stars)
"Between the latter-day boho undertones, detuned guitar rave-ups, spaced-out wordiness, and low-fidelity sonics, it expertly mashes up Sonic Youth, Pavement, and Guided by Voices. Nothing out of the ordinary about any of those reference points, but Parquet Courts' over-the-top energy, speed, and succinctness makes the combination sound fresher than anything the original elements have managed in years" - David Menconi, SPIN (8 of 10 SPIN ESSENTIAL)
"The acerbic lines Savage and Brown spit into the mic about everything from wandering through Queens bodegas ('Stoned and Starving') to nostalgia's relationship with mortality ('Borrowed Time') invoke the old-fashioned idea of punk as something more than music." - Harley Brown, Village Voice
"Wordy, messy, instantly charismatic and slowly gaining the attention it deserves." - Chris Richards, Washington Post
"It's punk rock that hurtles forward and brandishes a sneaky, sticky hook." - John Schaefer,WNYC's Soundcheck
"Hearing it again, the album feels simultaneously as rough and as refined as the city they now call home." - Emilie Friedlander, The FADER
PRAISE FOR "TALLY ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU BROKE"
"They're the young wise fools of New York...and their sound openly recalls all the frayed and wiry post-rock of the 80s and 90s, though their southern twang and sharp satire push them away from being revivalists." - Jeremy Larson, Pitchfork
"If this is the future of Parquet Courts, it's looking golden" - Brian Raftery, Rolling Stone
"Their new EP, Tally All the Things That You Broke, is primitivist punk rock at its best, and more than deserves a spot on your shelf next to former back-to-basics saviors like the Ramones, the Feelies, and the Modern Lovers." - Miles Raymer, Esquire
It's a collection that captures the yin and yang at the heart of what makes Parquet Courts so magnetic." - David Renshaw, NME
