Cut Hands is the solo project of William Bennett, founder and sole constant member of underground legends Whitehouse. Across two critically acclaimed albums, Afro Noise Vol.1 (2011) and Black Mamba (2012), as well as 12" singles on Blackest Ever Black and Regis's Downwards label, Bennett has articulated a commanding, utterly unique vision of African and Haitian percussion enmeshed in caustic, often beautiful electronics.
Damballah 58 is the monstrous sequel to last year's deadly Black Mamba 12". The title track's diabolically addictive vaudou rhythms insinuate deeply before uncoiling convulsively into...an irrevocable reclamation of the consciousness. The B-side features 'Mamba Muntu' (sister track to the previous 'River Mumma' and 'Witness The Spread Of The Dream'), the treacherously beautiful 'Belladonna Theme', and the marauding burning rush of 'Immersion'.
