BIRD OF YOUTH'S NEW ALBUM DEFENDER OUT TODAY MAY 24TH!

RECORD RELEASE SHOW JUNE 9TH IN BROOKLYN
EAST COAST DATES WITH KATHRYN CALDER OF NEW PORNOGRAPHERS

Bird Of Youth's debut album Defender is out today May 24th on Inebriate Records. The fledgling Brooklyn based band have been praised for what Nylon calls "unpretentious indie-rock filled with jangly '90s guitar-pop, Americana melodies, and front-woman Beth Wawerna's deep, steady voice." Following a home town record release show on June 9th at The Rock Shop in Brooklyn, Bird Of Youth join Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers for a few select east coast dates.

The entire album is streaming in full at AOL Spinner for your listening pleasure.

Produced by Will Sheff of Okkervil River and Phil Palazzolo (The New Pornographers, Ted Leo, Neko Case), Defender was recorded with the help of a cast of players that includes members of The Wrens, Nada Surf, The National, Okkervil River and the Mendoza Line. Magnet Magazine notes that "Wawerna has such an amazing supporting cast because she is the real deal, a first-rate songwriter with a singular voice."

BOY have spent the past year carving out a space for themselves in the crowded waters of Brooklyn's indie rock ocean. Success in sticking out has come on the cool stoicism of Wawerna's uniquely dry vocal delivery, pairing thoughtful and ornate lyricism with intricate pop songcraft, brought back down to earth with an air of casual frivolity.
