Violens Release MGMT Remix Of "Doomed" / Play Bowery Ballroom THIS FRIDAY June 12 w/ School Of Seven Bells / Announce UK Tour w/ White Lies

VIOLENS are giving away MGMT’s remix of the song Doomed from their debut EP (Cantora Records). The two bands met last year after MGMT approached Violens’ Jorge Elbrecht about remixing their hit Time To Pretend. While that initial collaboration completely transformed the original song with eerie, industrial synths, this new mix maintains the sunny pop of Violens’ original, highlighting the airy vocal harmonies and replacing the rhythm section with a toy chest of keyboards and drum machines.

MGMT’s remix joins contributions from Lansing-Dreiden, remix collective RAC, and newcomers Subtle People to comprise a forthcoming free digital remix EP. Caroline Polacheck of Chairlift also crafted visuals for a "video remix" of the song Already Over, which originally premiered on Zane Lowe’s show and was recently remixed by pop chameleons Lilys.

Later this year, Violens will return to the UK for a massive tour with British chart-toppers White Lies! Many more dates are to be announced, but fans in NYC can see them THIS FRIDAY at Bowery Ballroom with School of Seven Bells.

Violens
Violens are Iddo Arad (synths/vocals), Ben Brantley (bass), Jorge Elbrecht (lead vocals/guitar), Kris King (drums).

Their music imagines a place where The Zombies & The Byrds meet Wire & The Violent Femmes, and Crass meets Angelo Badalamenti & Prefab Sprout.

They have toured and performed in the US with Grizzly Bear, Yeasayer , Handsome Furs, Deerhunter, Chairlift, Telepathe, and Jay Reatard among others. Before heading into the studio to record their debut album, they closed out 2008 supporting MGMT in the UK.
