Tokyo Police Club adds more North American tour dates to fall headline tour

Tokyo Police Club, who will round out the summer performing select stops with Grouplove and PortugalThe Man, have added fall headlining dates to their extensive North American tour. The Canadian run will be supported by Said the Whale, with appearances by The Pack A.D on some dates. See below for a full list of tour dates.
Furthermore, the band has released a new remix of their single “Hot Tonight,” off their latest album Forecfield, by Togetherness (aka Ross Clark and Nicky Paul of St. Lucia). Listen here.
Recent critical acclaim for Forcefield:
“Tokyo Police Club’s Hot Tonight…this cheerful, catchy track could be candidate for Song of the Summer.”—USA Today

“Tokyo Police Club combines the adrenaline of punk and straight-ahead rock with the levity of pop, creating a sound that’s as equally suited to the dance floor as it is to a sweaty basement room.”—Washington Post

“Tokyo Police Club remain one of the few guitar-based indie rock bands that can pen danceable songs that pop without overtly and desperately trying to be ‘dance-pop.’”—Pitchfork
“…the songs reveal themselves to be some of the catchiest, most joyful few minutes of jade
guitar-driven pop mastery you’ve heard all year.”—Under the Radar

“Ebullient, über-polished.”—SPIN
“They can still write straightforward rock songs with significant pop chords.”—Stereogum
“These guys just wanna make you dance.”—NYLON

The band also performed on Vh1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live” and made appearances on “Last Call with Carson Daly” and Revolt TV.
Forcefield was produced by Doug Boehm (Dr. Dog, Girls) and David Monks (vocals, bass). Of the new music Monks notes, “Since writing started for Forcefield in mid-2011 there have been so many trends and every kind of ‘wave.’ We saw them all come and disappear or change into something broader. It left us wanting to make something that would last. We ended up rediscovering energy and guitars and simple, direct songs. There was certainly a lot of pressure to take the music somewhere new and there were lots of opinions about how to do that, but in the end we blocked all that out and followed our instincts. I think that’s what Forcefield is—it doesn’t matter what else is going on out there, the music just has to be honest and have a real feeling to it.”
Bursting onto the scene in 2006 with 16 minutes of music—A Lesson In Crime EP—that garnered an ecstatic response, the Newmarket, Ontario quartet has never looked back. Tokyo Police Club is Monks, Graham Wright (keys), Josh Hook (guitar) and Greg Alsop (drums).
