Blues Control release their Drag City debut, Valley
Tangents, on June 19th. After hearing album track, "Iron
Pigs," you can now dig a bit deeper into the Blues Control way by
watching the video for Valley Tangent's opening song,"Love's
A Rondo." Not THAT Rondo, silly. Dude was too busy blowing minds
in Miami!
The "Love's A Rondo" video was directed by Tara
Sinn who found performerTarik Davidson (aka Allstar
the MTA Mime) one afternoon while riding the subway where he performs each
weekend on the 4/5 train. Premiered this morning via Stereogum, the
video was shot in Battery Park and the Financial District of New York one
Saturday afternoon with no rehearsals, and has a free-flowing feel reflective
of Blues Control's all around, free-flowing vibe.
Blues Control play a bunch of shows throughout
the summer in support ofValley Tangents. The duo of Lea Cho (keyboards)
and Russ Waterhouse(guitar, synth, tapes) kick things off with an in-store
at Other Music on Mon. June 18, then play New York, Philly and Baltimore
that weekend. (Tara Sinn will be doing visuals at the New York show.) More tour
dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

"[Valley Tangents is] blissful, but never
listless. It zones out into swirling tangents but seems to know its way home.
It has groove but never meanders. Its a perfect soundtrack to the coming
swelter of summer, just in time to cool the dizzying din of too much cracked
pavement like the first grasp of condensation on the glass. You'd do well to
get this in your hands as soon as its available and then spend some time in a
lawn chair, headphones on and lost in the hazy corona of Blues Control's
glow." - Raven Sings The Blues
"a genre-blending war march gone prog, showing off the
duo's wild imagination and the musical roads less traveled. The amount of ground
they cover in just one track is stunning." - Ad Hoc
