Fantasmes Announce 'Redness Moon' LP - September 4, 2012 (Last Bummer Records) Video Premiere for Debut Single 'Redness Moon'

Fantasmes is excited to announce the release of their album "Redness Moon" out September 4, 2012 through Last Bummer Records. Comprised of Mario Negrón and Darío Morales, the two first met as high school students in Puerto Rico. Although the two boys traveled in different circles, they were eventually brought together by their undeniable passion for music, performance, and deep connection to the celestial universe.  “There was this event at the school’s basketball court…kids with their parents everywhere," Dario reflects, on seeing Mario perform for the first time: "A band was playing on the corner, and there he was - long and greasy hair, a bandana around his head, playing these Hendrix-like riffs, high and rolling ‘round a 4x4 stage. No one was paying attention. It was inspiring.”

Some years passed before the two finally came together to begin what would eventually become Fantasmes. The band's debut EP, 'The Reveller,' was composed and recorded by Mario. Recruiting performers for his live tour, he asked Dario to join the band. Following 'The Reveller,' the two embarked on separate paths - Mario battled deep bouts of depression while Dario relocated to Spain. Nonetheless, Fantasmes experienced a revival in 2010, releasing their second EP 'Redgold/Sidetracked,' and playing select performances in New York City.

Despite the hurdles, Mario and Darío are inextrixably linked by their non-traditional approach to musical composition. 'Redness Moon' was written in their Santurce, Puerto Rico studio, "Casa Fantasmes" - a secluded space where they recorded and produced the entire album themselves. Working with both analog and digital equipment, 'Redness Moon' moves fluidly from 1960s psychedelia to avant-garde pop and it experiments with vintage recording techniques, "here and now" composition, and webbed fragmentation. It was mastered in the Isle of Skye, Scotland by the famed Denis Blackham, who has worked with artists ranging from Brian Eno & David Byrne to Otis Redding and the Cocteau Twins.
