WOLVES AT THE GATE premiere video for 'Dead Man'

Hot on the heels of their second well-received track preview, post metalcore rockers WOLVES AT THE GATE are excited to release their new video for "Dead Man," the first official single from their upcoming debut full-length, Captors - available in stores and online July 3rd from Solid State Records.

"It was quite difficult for us to come up with a concept and treatment for this video that effectively communicated the lyrical content without literally following every single lyric," says guitarist/vocalist Stephen Cobucci. "But the joint effort from us, [director] Nathan Lundquist and Jon Ringle really brought a beautiful visual depth that we could have never conceived on our own. I am so very pleased with the CGI elements in the video as they are a perfect fit for the concept of the song and video. When Nathan approached me about shooting our performance shots in front of a green screen, I was apprehensive because I didn't want to look like local tv weather men, but he completely helped communicate a beautiful Gospel message though the video."

The video provides a blistering snapshot of what WATG has in store on Captors - a fusion of hard rock melody and post-hardcore heaviness whose raw, emotional power is matched in intensity only by the band's earnest approach to songwriting. It's a fresh take on "heavy" music - a fact not ignored by their label as WOLVES AT THE GATE are (alongside labelmates THE OVERSEER) one half of what Solid State is terming "The New Breed" - the front-runners in a new generation of post-metalcore heavy music.

"The story, in short, follows a boy who is broken over the death of his father," Cobucci continues. "As he goes through his dad's memories he discovers a checkered past of violence, malice and hatred and is undoubtedly torn to pieces by the thought of his father not being the loving and Godly man he remembers. A photo of his father's baptism reminds him of his fathers turn from wickedness and his embrace of a life serving and loving the Lord. Romans 5:6 'You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.' It is the beautiful story of God's redemption in the life of a man possessed by sin and wickedness. Our aim is to show that Jesus Christ paid for those very sins on the cross do that we no longer have to live under this sin. Colossians 1:13-14 'For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

The follow-up to their touted 2011 EP We Are the OnesCaptors finds the band not only living up to but surpassing the huge potential recognized by critics and fans alike. No longer constrained by the limits of an EP, the members of WOLVES AT THE GATE were able to showcase the explosive growth of their songwriting, from luscious, melodic rock tracks to lip-splitting hardcore stomps.

Produced by Andreas Magnussen (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, etc), Captors is a blisteringly heavy full-length debut with the potential to appeal to every variety of rocker – from fans of metalcore to traditional metal to mainstream hard rock. It's an album that – like those of some of the band's influences (AS CITIES BURN, THRICE, FOO FIGHTERS, UNDER0ATH) -  avoids pigeonholes and easy labels.

Formed in 2008, WATG began turning heads almost immediately and it wasn't long before they were touring with bands they had grown up listening to on their iPods, recording with producers whose work they appreciated and signing with a label –  Solid State Records –  they had long respected. With the November 2011 release of We Are The Ones, the band wedged their way into a crowded heavy music scene. Now, with Captors, the band is kicking down the door and taking no prisoners.
