Nylon Records Announces The Visitor Self-Titled Debut EP | Out June 26th

From the streets of New York and the graffiti painted landscapes of the city's walls come The Visitor and their soaring self-titled debut EP, out digitally on June 26th viaNYLON Records.

Marvin Scott Jarrett is the creative force behind The Visitor and when he isn't moonlighting as a songwriter and guitarist, he is the editor in-chief of NYLON Magazine, which as been his primary focus since the magazine's launch in 1999. After showing some songs to producer and friend, Jimmy Boyle (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Navarro, John Frusciante) in 2011, Jarrett got serious about putting an EP together. The EP was recorded and produced in New York and Los Angeles by Boyle, and mixed by Darell Thorp (Radiohead, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Outkast). GuitaristDave Levita (Alanis Morrisette), along with fellow musicians, guitarist Roger Manning (Beck), bassist Cedric LeMoyne (Remy Zero), and vocalist Mat Devine(Kill Hannah) filled out the instrumentation on the recording.

The Visitor EP Tracklisting:
1.Streets of New York
2.Touch The Moon
3.Before I Go
4.The Visitor

Set against the landscape of 2012, where over-produced pop songs dominate the charts, and we rely on our digitized selves to relate, emote, and communicate more than ever - The Visitor EP is anything but 'the usual.' Certain notes evoke earlySmashing Pumpkins or Interpol, while a tough, dirgy bass often anchors withQueens of the Stoneage's style of sexy filth. The rich four-track set is an open, emotive, and melodic portrait of Jarrett's personal narrative. In his own words, Jarrett describes the inspiration for his new project as "the usual stuff: life, love...and maybe a bit of depression."
