As he gears up for the release of his solo debut album, Jesse “Boots Electric” Hughes will give a little taste of what to expect with a special show in LA on August 18th at Paper Ships/Exchange LA – tickets for which are available HERE. The Eagles of Death Metal frontman is also giving a quick behind-the-scenes look at the making of the upcoming full-length, Honkey Kong, which is out Sept 20th on Dangerbird Records. Click HERE for footage of Hughes cooking up some new tunes in the studio (note: audio contains content that might offend some listeners).

Honkey Kong was produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Depeche Mode, The Kooks) and co-written with legendary keyboardist Money Mark, best known for his many collaborations with the Beastie Boys. As these collaborators suggest, Hughes is showing a whole new side of himself that was only hinted at with his work in Eagles of Death Metal. His new material, as Boots Electric ,explores a more keyboard-heavy, danceable sound and oozes more of Hughes’ beloved swagger than ever before. If you haven’t yet heard the first single, click HERE for “Boots Electric Theme,” which features Brody Dalle on vocals.
