Announces US Headlining Tour with MC Lars, Mega Ran and Adam WarRock Helps Raise Over $100,000 To Fight Cystic Fibrosis Raises over $70,000 for The mc chris Cartoon Show “Hoodie Ninja” Featured in 2012 Honda Civic Si National Commercial

Brooklyn, NY - One of the most unique and distinct rappers of the last decade to embody the Do It Yourself ethos, mc chris is excited to announce the September 2, 2011 release date of his highly anticipated seventh album RACE WARS. Racing across the country this Fall, mc chris has also announced an eight-week headlining US tour with support from like-minded rappers MC Lars, Mega Ran, and Adam WarRock on the first leg of the tour. Bookended by shows in Brooklyn, NY, The Race Wars Tour kicks off with a birthday/record release party on September 1 at Death By Audio and wraps on October 29 at the Knitting Factory. This run includes a performance at Middlewest Fest 2011 on September 10 in DeKalb, IL and a special screening of the feature-length film Starship Troopers on October 4th in Austin, TX at the Alamo Draft House. See all tour dates below.

Accruing a massive and rabid fan base over the years by praising Star Wars bounty hunters, Robitussin, and Reese’s Pieces, Wall Street Journal recently commented “imagine an optimistic Eminem who drops insightful comic-book references.” The new concept album Race Wars revolves around the release of a fake movie of the same name, which mc chris likens to a trio of Mel Gibson movies. “Race Wars is a post-apocalyptic car movie in the same vein as the Mad Max trilogy,” he adds. The high-pitched rapper recorded the album with Andrew Frutal (of the band Field Mouse) earlier this year in Brooklyn and says,“He's amazing in his ability to meet my various needs. He can literally play any type of music and thanks to Protools he can whip up anything from an 808 to an entire orchestra. On Race Wars we really stretched our limits and tried new things.” To promote the record’s release, mc chris has been asking fans to use the hashtag “#mcchrisracewars” on Twitter since June, automatically entering them in a contest in which one lucky fan will win $500 each month (ending this month). Known by many fans as the unmistakable voice behind the evil rapping spider MC Pee Pants from Carton Network’s Adult Swim cartoon (and subsequent full length movie and video game) Aqua Teen Hunger Force, mc chris has been self-releasing rap albums since 2001. Fresh out of New York University with an undergraduate degree in screenwriting, mc chris’ career began working for infamous documentary film maker Michael Moore before landing a gig as an animator, writer and voice actor on Adult Swim’s cartoon Sealab 2021 (as "Hesh"). Growing up with an affinity for comedy and on a healthy dose of hiphop culture, he began writing raps, and after his song “Fette’s Vette” was used in an episode of Sealab 2021 (later used in the 2008 Kevin Smith film Zack and Miri Make a Porno), mc chris was born. One UK tour, six albums and twelve US tours later, and mc chris shows no sign of slowing down.

mc chris’ unique rise to nerd “fame” has been documented by Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, and others, while the Wall Street Journal recently profiled mc chris’ philanthropy efforts. After receiving news that his nephew was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth four years ago, mc chris began auctioning off his rare and collectible toys, games, collectible cards, etc. on eBay, and to date has raised well over $100,000 to help fight the disease. With the help and support of his fans, not only has mc chris been able to raise an impressive amount to fight Cystic Fibrosis, he has also been able to raise over $70,000 for his Kickstarter campaign to produce his own cartoon show, aptly titled the mc chris cartoon. Fans who pledged varying increments of money will receive a number of goodies, ranging from a “thank you” phone call from mc chris or a pizza party backstage to a personal mc chris concert or being able to voice a zombie in the cartoon.

Over the last six years, when mc chris decided to make music a full time career, he has toured with a variety of artists such as Reggie And The Full Effect and Pinback, as well as performing on the Vans Warped Tour. He has collaborated with Talib Kweli on his Idle Warship project, and has also written multiple theme songs for Kevin Smith’s SModcast Internet Radio Network, as well as the upcoming Adult Swim cartoon Tight Bros., which features MF Doom and comedian Todd Barry. His song “Hoodie Ninja” is also currently featured in the national commercial for the 2012 Honda Civic Si: http://bit.ly/mcchrisHonda.
