FL/TN - August 24, 2011 - The melodic indie pop outfit known as States is preparing to self-release their highly anticipated debut LP "Room to Run," due out October 18th, 2011. States materialized after indie-scene favorites, Copeland, disbanded. Guitarist brothers Bryan and Stephen Laurensonbegan conceptualizing their new creative musical venture and the duo acquired Mindy White, formerly of Lydia. She stepped out from her usual position behind a keyboard, lending her endearingly captivating vocals to the project. Upon hearing the early mixes, ex-Copeland drummer Jonathan Bucklew and bassist Dean Lorenz joined the lineup and filled out the sound.
The group was hard at work producing indie pop gems worthy of a structured release. States provided the perfect introductory preview of what they have in store with their debut EP, "Line 'Em Up." Soon after the release States embarked on their first tour opening for Anberlin.
States again hit the studio but this time with producer Aaron Sprinkle at the Compound Recording Studios in Seattle, Washington to record debut LP "Room to Run." The full length showcases the bands growth and self-discovery, layering the deliciously melodic pop-rock instrumentation with graceful vocals and heartfelt lyrics.
"We're doing what we wanted and we'll take the band where's is supposed to go," White explains, a child-like joy and smile marks her statement. It's in the creative freedom that "Room to Run" acts as a story of the band itself. "I know there is a purpose in us finding each other."
States new album "Room to Run" drops October 18th, the band will be touring in support of the new release with Circa Survive and Maps & Atlases.
