BALTIMORE'S DOPE BODY ANNOUNCE US TOUR DATES WITH LITURGY, HUME. "NUPPING" OUT NOW VIA HOSS RECORDS

Dope Body - "The Shape of Grunge to Come" via Altered Zones

"158) Dope Body/Nupping: Abrasive noise-punk band fearlessly dicking with funk and ska, for better or worse. #7" - 1000 Times Yes / Christopher R. Weingarten

Tour dates blow!

Since forming in 2009, Baltimore native sons Dope Body have evolved on a truly logarithmic scale. Moving from stark, primitve punk-metal to genre-swallowing, unabashedly-90's-referencing, poly-rhythmic brutes in less than two years, the band has created a bizarre new standard for the mutant art-punk-beaster set.

Nupping, their debut full-length, manages to recall the best of the heavier, more obtuse and rhythmically inventive elements of punk rock from the past thirty years, as well as the kind of formative-influence-stuff alot of current artsy, heavy bands don't wanna acknowledge: Rage, Wu-Tang, nu-metal, Michael Jackson, The Beach Boys, and contemporary pop radio.

Baltimore scene-documentarian Michael Byrne says it best; "Maybe it’s Zach Utz’s way of making guitar strings sound like pure electricity, in the sense of being actual materialization of electrical current strung on a guitar body and conjuring these bat-shit sounds of mixed feedback, chug, and tearing open space-time. Or human rubber band Andrew Laumann’s immense talent for stripping any and all civilization from his voice...and just how weirdly and furiously drummer David Jacober moves the songs forward. Amazing how three dudes so much in their own worlds manage to make a whole other one and call it a song... Anyhow, you get the point: heavy music from deep, anarchic currents."

"What’s very important to note is that Dope Body is one of a half-dozen bands in the whole worldwide punk revival that really gets it, that it’s not about being retro or being the next some-other-band-that-already- existed. Which is probably why it slides just so perfectly into warehouse/Wham City Baltimore."

PRESS FOR NUPPING

"Straight-up virtuosity has been somewhat out of style for a while now in punk-rock, garage, and lo-fi, in favor of artful or at least fashionable slop. This is not that and, hopefully, the music world takes notice." - Baltimore City Paper / Michael Byrne

"Dope Body have taken their sound and fury and refined it into something truly memorable, signifying Nupping, a record that will blow minds, ears and speakers." - Beat Bots / Tim Kabara

"Known for its intense, mucked-up punk rock, Dope Body cranks out some brutal jams on Nupping. It sounds like a call to arms, a reminder that ferocity works in every era, and that there are many, many ways to make screeching and scrawl sound as vital and imaginative as they did when The Monks accidentally stumbled upon feedback in the '60s." - Washington City Paper / Leor Galil
