Pilot Speed enter the studio with Dennis Herring

INTO THE WEST FOLLOW-UP TO BE RELEASED ON

WIND-UP RECORDS IN EARLY 2009

New York --- Canadian quartet Pilot Speed have entered Sweet Tea Studios in Oxford, Mississippi with legendary producer Dennis Herring to record the follow-up to the band’s INTO THE WEST (2006). The prior album delivered growing roots in the U.S, as they emerged as a major act in Canada with a Juno nomination, top-twenty album, top-ten single, and a Much Music video award. This upcoming release is poised to become a breakthrough for Pilot Speed.

Herring’s illustrious career offers a past discography that naturally leads to Pilot Speed in 2008. In the Eighties, he emerged with the massive Timbuk 3 track “The Future’s So Bright You Gotta Wear Shades,” and produced Camper Van Beethoven’s albums Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart and Key Lime Pie. In the Nineties, releases included those from Throwing Muses, Concrete Blonde, The Innocence Mission, The Ocean Blue and Counting Crows. This decade has seen Herring deliver works from Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, and The Hives.

On working with Herring, Pilot Speed’s Todd Clark shared, “We are all thrilled, and flattered to have the opportunity to work with Dennis. There is a certain leap of faith involved in choosing a producer. Dennis’ outstanding track record and reputation serve to make that leap awfully exciting... I do believe the end product will be some very special recordings.”

Pilot Speed’s four members all provide multiple contributions to their work in the studio as evidenced in the credits from INTO THE WEST: Todd Clark (Vocals, Guitar, Piano, Fender Rhodes, Hammond Organ), Chris Greenough (Guitars, Synths, Wurlitzer, Reed Organs), Ruby Bumrah (Bass Guitar, Vocals) and Bill Keeley (Drums, Glockenspiel, Chimes, Shakers, Tambourine). The upcoming release is slated for early-2009.
