Adult Swim Presents First Nationwide Concert Tours

Adult Swim, Cartoon Network’s highly rated late-night programming block for young adults, today announces its first two nationwide concert tours. In usual Adult Swim style, the 24-campus music tour promises to be like no other. On October 1, a 12-campus hip-hop tour begins with a concert at the State University of New York campus in Albany, featuring Ghostface Killah and Witchdoctor. On October 29, a 12-campus heavy metal tour lets loose with headliner And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. Opening for Trail of Dead is none other than Dethklok, the heavy metal band from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse television series. All shows are open to students. Ticket information can be obtained online at www.adultswimpresents.com.
Headlining the hip-hop tour is Ghostface Killah (Def Jam). Also known as Dennis Coles, Ghostface Killah rose to fame as a member of the Wu-Tang Clan hip hop collective. Now on the Def Jam label, Ghostface Killah is responsible for six critically-acclaimed records and in 2006 teamed up with MF DOOM to produce a not-yet-released album.
Witchdoctor, also known as Eric Johnson, is an established member of Atlanta’s Dungeon Family collective, which includes Goodie Mob, OutKast, Killer Mike, Big Rube and many others. A veteran of the Southern rap game, he has lent his unique voice and style to several albums, including OutKast and Goodie Mob. Witchdoctor’s new album, “Diary of an American Witchdoctor,” will be released October 23 on Adult Swim’s Williams Street record label.
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead (Interscope Records) will headline the heavy metal tour. Formed in 1994 by singers/guitarists/drummers Jason Reece and Conrad Keely, Trail of Dead eventually signed to Interscope Records and in 2002 issued the formidable album “Source Tags & Codes.” Their most recent album, “So Divided,” was released in late 2006. Opening for Trail of Dead is the self-described world’s most popular and heaviest metal band, Dethklok. Dethklok and its band members are the stars of the popular Adult Swim animated series, Metalocalypse, the brainchild of creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha. For the Adult Swim tour, Small, who is the lead vocalist, brings the animated characters to life with a real live band. Dethklok’s first album, “Metalocalypse: Dethklok The Dethalbum,” will be released on Williams Street September 25.
