Columbia Records is pleased to announce the signing of Chicago-native sibling duo, Wild Belle.  Raised in a musical household replete with family sing-alongs and what the band describes as “old-timey songs, hymns and Dylan tunes,” Elliot and Natalie Bergman each pursued their passion of music at an early age.  Natalie made a brief pilgrimage to New York City, working in a bar while recording demos on her days off, but later returned to Chicago to work with Elliot, who had been touring with his successful Afrojazz band, NOMO.  Their collaboration gave birth to Wild Belle, with Natalie and Elliot doing all of their own writing, recording and producing.

The myriad of musical influences from the siblings’ upbringing is reflected in Wild Belle’s music, which has a retro, psychedelic-pop feel with hints of jazz, reggae, and R&B. These elements shine in the duo’s new music video for “It’s Too Late,” the first new track heard by fans since their self-released debut single “Keep You.” Both of these tracks will be featured on the bands forthcoming debut album Isles, which is due out early next year on Columbia Records.

Wild Belle has quickly become one of the most promising acts of 2012, wowing crowds and receiving glowing reviews with their SXSW performances earlier this year.  The Chicago Tribune raved about the band’s “sassiness, wit, subtlety and confidence…drawing on elements of Jamaican rock-steady, U.K. trip-hop and atmospheric balladry.” The musical talents of both siblings were recognized, with Rolling Stone noting how Elliot “switched effortlessly between keyboards and sax” and the Los Angeles Times complimenting Natalie’s vocal performance with her “can’t-put-one-over-on-me husk…appearing coolly dapper as she puts a realist spin on adult relationships. ‘I’m just another girl,’ Bergman tried to claim in one song, but here’s betting she’s not anonymous for long.”

Wild Belle’s live performances have already been recognized for their catchy hooks and breezy sound.  The band has performed a sold-out headlining show in London, with Haim opening, and has supported The Temper Trap, !!!, and The Maccabees.  The band performed at Hideout Block Party in their hometown of Chicago this past weekend where the band caught up with the Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot to talk about the birth of Wild Belle. Up next, they will open for Tennis in October, and will tour Europe with Alabama Shakes and Michael Kiwanuka this winter (see below for full US tour dates). Natalie and Elliot are joined live by Kellen Harrison (bass) as well as fellow NOMO members Erik Hall (guitar) and Quin Kirchner (drums).
