Brooklyn-based band Apollo Run (John McGrew, Jeff Kerestes, Graham Fisk) are gearing up to release their full-length debut album,Here Be Dragons, Vol III on September 25, 2012. The band teamed up with CMJ to premiere the first video from the album for the track"The Inevitable Small Rebellions."  Directed by Alex Fischer, the story of the video was inspired by George Orwell's "Animal Farm" and was shot in the East River Bandshell in NYC with a group of child actors and students.  The band will be touring in support of the full length and will be performing a record release show at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC on September 26, 2012.

Here Be Dragons, Vol III follows Apollo Run's incredibly successful debut EPs - Here Be Dragons, Vol I and II.  The band received glowing reviews from NPR Music, Time Out NY, Village Voice, Relix, The Deli Magazine, Artist Direct and more.  Artist Directcontiues to show the band love and recently premiered and offered a free download of the track, "Bending the Light", from the new album.  SurgeFm.com picked up the song and raved, "At first listen, I really found myself digging the instrumentals as it hooks you right from the outset with catchy beats and infectious harmonies."  The writer goes on, "I would also be doing the song no justice if I did not touch on the excellent vocal works & lyrics that really shined throughout."

For the release of their debut LP, the band trained hard on fundamentals.  As lead singer John McGrew puts it, “It was a little like Rocky IV.  We did a crazy amount of vocal drills and rhythm exercises. Imagine one of those awesome 80's sports movie montages where the athlete is getting back into shape for the big game/fight/race.  That was us, and it worked.”  Drummer Graham Fisk adds, “For VIII, we had all this great new material and a sense of purpose heading into the studio.  A do or die mentality.”

The result is an hour of sweeping epic.  Lush harmonies and cascades of keys crowd around the chamber of “Autumn Song.”  Swagger reigns in “Bending The Light,” riding on sinewy rhythms and salty disco bass.  The chattery vocal effects in “The Inevitable Small Rebellions” mark an unmistakable new authority in the AR sound.  The crown jewel might be “Sirens,” a picture-perfect ballad that constitutes the first instance of the band writing a song all together, from the ground up.

’Bending the Light’ is a sweeping, smooth and sexy rock sound that runs through your ears like silk, complimented by heartbeat-like percussion and pretty, dreamy vocals. It's also synthy, but lush with texture... The song brings the heat.

This is easily one of the most creative albums we've heard in 2012... These heavily layered pop cuts feature nice soaring melodies, heavenly harmonies, and thick walls of instruments.”
