The Skies Revolt Release Exclusive Stream on AltPress.com Today!

The Skies Revolt

The Skies Revolt, the final band in the Making Moves series, have released an exclusive stream of their track"Green Dress: In A Sense" on AltPress.com today, September 27th. Drexel University's MAD Dragon Records (MDR) and Motion City Soundtrack are pleased to announce Making Moves, a series of 7 inch releases by emerging artists, produced and curated by members of Motion City Soundtrack. The Making Moves series is released jointly on MAD Dragon Records and Motion City Soundtrack's recently launched record label, The Boombox Generation. The alternative-rock quartet, known as The Skies Revolt, will be releasing their Making Moves 7-inch on October 23rd. This release will contain two single tracks on 7-inch vinyl, as well as a bonus track released with the digital package. Check out "Green Dress: In A Sense" on AltPress.com, here: http://bit.ly/Q3vrnA.

Consisting of David Prindle (vocals/guitar/electronics), Jarred Irby (bass/vocals), Bobby Dowell (guitar/vocals), and Eli DenBesten (drums/vocals), The Skies Revolt have been redefining the alternative rock genre with their quirky blend of indie sound, catchy electronics, and aggressive, pumping beats. This unique sound, which has been described as joyful indie-rock exuberance, has garnered attention from FuseMuch Music, MTV, Pandora Radio, and more, with appraisal for the first single off the band's recent self released LP, Some Kind Of Cosmonaut. The band further demonstrates their uniqueness with their "Choose Your Own Adventure" videothat follows the band through the woods after their bus has broken down, allowing the fans to choose each step along the way.

The Skies Revolt's upcoming release for the Making Moves series, which is supported in part by the Kal & Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies at Drexel University, will consist of three new unique tracks from the Grand Rapids, Michigan band. Josh Cain and Justin Pierre, guitarist and vocalist of Motion City Soundtrack, produced the tracks along with Drexel's Music Industry Program alumnus, Dave Petit and Justin Chapmanengineering the sessions. Cain, of MCS, discovered the band from a twitter post asking fans to send over their favorite bands at the time. Cain sifted through hundreds of bands before coming across, and falling for, The Skies Revolt.

The Skies Revolt's Making Moves release opens with "For Your Health", a drum-heavy track peppered with blasts of distorted guitar chords and haunting synth lines. The second song of the release, "Green Dress: In A Sense", has a lighter feel to it - it includes a random burst of rhythmic clapping as well as a bubbly synthesizer melody that makes itself known throughout the track. "Germaine Throws It Up", the final track, is the most electronic of the three. From the synthesizer's immediate prominence to the verses' staccato vocals, The Skies Revolt creates a robotic feel while still incorporating the more human rock elements, demonstrating exactly what it is that makes their music so distinctive.

Prindle states, "Working with Josh and Justin was awesome, they took us in and showed us a lot of new tricks within recording. It was really a great experience over all and we are really excited that they and MAD Dragon Records are making it possible to put out our first vinyl."

The Skies Revolt will be touring the US during fall 2012 to support the October 23rd release of Making Moves on 7-inch vinyl and digital download. For more information on the band, please visit: www.theskiesrevolt.com
