WITH LIONS, WISHES & THIEVES AND DUB CITY
WITH LIONS, WISHES & THIEVES AND DUB CITY
“White is one of the few beat makers that can lay
claim to being a musician first and DJ-Producer by default. Sprinklings
of enough genres to satisfy a wide range of music fans.”
— Paper Magazine
T.H.
WHITE released his fourth full-length release, How Bad Do
You Want It!? in Fall 2011, followed by the How Bad Do You
Want Remixes!? EP last month. The
multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and DJ presents the SPLIT
12-INCH, Scene & Modify EP, out October 20,
2012 via Sky Council Recordings. The release will also be available
digitally.
The vinyl is centered on the T.H. White track “Scene
& Modify” and shared with other notable producer/musician combosWith
Lions and Wishes and Thieves, who have both remixed the
track and provided an original tune of their own for White to remix. Side
A of the EP contains the “Scene & Modify” original track as well as remixes
and Side B sees T.H. White remixing the original work of the “S&M”
remixers. White’s glossy production and writing style has led to remixes forPhenomenal
Handclap Band, Fol Chen, Boy in Static and Faunts.
With
Lions contributed the track “Olympia” from their Equipo EP,
which My Old Kentucky Blog called, “Rich tenor
harmonies, dusk-blue piano notes, and the shifting sands of brushes wielded by
the percussionist... it’s all about sonic paintings full of color and texture.” Jim
Farber from the NY
Daily News also lauded the work saying, “With their rich
orchestrations and sweeping melodies, With Lions makes cinematic rock you can
see.”
Wishes
and Thieves had White remix their recent single “Let You
In” from their sophomore EP, Forest Fire.
Filter
Magazine premiered the video for “Let You In” noting, "The
start and stop beat brings the stress and desperation of the track to the
forefront while the images give you a sense that emotion is the main driver in
this video.”
You’ll also notice a remix and track from Dub City on
the 12-inch. Dub City is the side project of T.H. White and he has done several
remixes under this name. A full length LP for Dub City is under way and
expected to be released sometime in 2013.
From finger picked and crystallized guitars paired with beat
driven female vocals to live funky bass grooves under futuristic soaring
synths, constant new ground is touched in the music of T.H. White.
Foundations lie in the world of DJ/Producers such as Thievery
Corporation, LCD Sound System and Moby as his sound
interlaces his influences of golden Hip-Hop, psychedelic 70s funk rock and lush
lounge beats.
Critics and fans often relate to White's unique blending of
ultra-modern production infused with his own organic instrumentation. It’s a
sound that has led to his music being featured in the now legendary HBO series The
Sopranos, Fox Television’s (X-Files spin-off) The Inside, SYFY
Channel’s vampire hit Being Human, BMW ads, several PBS shows and
constant use on NPR Radio. This exposure has further led to
White becoming an in-demand DJ and music supervisor for such high profile
clients as Elle Magazine, Mercedes Fashion Week, Car and Driver
Magazine, The Asti Spumonte Company and Premier
Magazine.
“With such clever and eclectic touches, this throbbing electro-pop shows a gift for titillating, slinky melodies from the club to the breakfast table. White’s got the skills and the songs are energetic.”
— SPIN Magazine
“T.H. White’s not your average icy synthesizer.”
— Stereogum
