Chicago Stone Lightning Band (Downtown Records)
Release digitally: September 18, 2012
At midnight tonight, September 18th, Chicago Stone Lightning Band releases its debut Downtown Records album via iTunes and Amazon.com.

Borne from Chicago’s fertile music underground, the members of Chicago Stone Lightning Band have several lifetimes worth of rock experience between them. The CSLB sound is unabashedly inspired by the British electric blues of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, American boogie rock, great American and British folk, electric blues, ragtime music, Northern Soul spun through decades of underground music—mod rock, garage, punk, space rock and drone. CSLB’s debut album reunites Chicago with the electric blues with its primal vitality intact. They’re not kidding with the name. Chicago Stone Lightning Band comes at us like a force of nature.

Recorded straight to analog tape on a vintage desk with Chicago engineer and producer Zach Goheen (who counts albums for Cass McCombs, JT Nero on his resume), often entirely live with minimal overdubbing and absolutely no effects pedals, the band’s debut is an unadulterated and unfiltered document of four musicians operating at full-tilt. CSLB’s ferocious volume, inspired soloing, dynamic rhythms and Pirani’s soul-bearing vox are all there, raw and in your face. Chicago Stone Lightning Band sounds like very little other music you will hear released in 2013 and come to think of it, that might be a very good thing.

What people are saying:
“The Chicago Stone Lightning Band has managed to catch lightning in a bottle. These four local indie-rock types (including current and former members of Chisel, Vee Dee, and the Windy City Soul Club DJ crew) play a thick boogie that's closer to Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac than to scrunch-faced Jonny Lang swill. The honchos at big-time label Downtown Records (home to Kid Sister, Gnarls Barkley, and Justice, among others) must agree.”—The Chicago Reader, Gossip Wolf

“Top 10 of 2012 stuff”—Lucid Sound

“Wow, that’s one hell of a guitar tone.”—Jamie Lidel
