Following up on the success of last month's Stay Calm, Sweet Valley is at it again with a new mixtape, Eternal Champ, from Fool's Gold. The mixtape is available for free download at the Sweet Valley bandcamp here

Sweet Valley is currently on tour with GZA and Killer Mike and the trio have announced even more tour dates so be sure to catch them when they grace your hometown. In addition to Sweet Valley DJ sets, Nathan Williams (Sweet Valley, Wavves) will be playing guitar for GZA while Liquid Swords is performed in it's entirety. Check out all the tour dates at Pitchfork or scroll down to see them listed below.

About Sweet Valley
Sweet Valley is a lysergic postcard from the outer reaches of Pop, U.S.A. It is your summer as a black hole. It is a place, a Bermuda Triangle-like place, where cannabis crumbs, spilt beer, record dust and that mysterious shit you had to blow out of game cartridges all collect as if pulled by some gigantic junkyard magnet. It is a stitched-up Frankenstein's monster of old happy notions resurrected but not quite the same, breaking the bandstand as it bobs its swollen, fuzz-addled head to unheard rhythms. Sweet Valley is a blood pact between two brothers, Nathan and Kynan Williams, gone awesomely off the rails.

It happened like this: Nathan, having done well for himself with a thing called Wavves, bought himself a house in Los Angeles. Kynan, five years the younger, was still living at home, making strange electronic pop under their parents' roof in San Diego. Nathan offered Kynan a room for free, on one condition: that they start a group called Sweet Valley and see what that sounds like (this deal partly motivated by a fear that younger brother, unless distracted, would smoke all of older brother's weed). In the first two weeks of their new arrangement, the pair produced the nine songs that make up their debut beat tape,
Stay Calm, now the duo has just made Eternal Champ available for free via Fool's Gold.

Bonding over a mutual love for the left-field loops and blunted grooves of DJ Shadow, Dipset, J Dilla and DJ Screw, the Williamses worked out a rhythm. In the morning, they dig through their vinyl in search of samples. They cut 'em to fit, arrange via MPC and Abelton Live, and then play whatever's needed-keys, bass, guitar, glockenspiel, Theremin. They don't write out melodies. They don't do a buncha takes. They break to play videogames (12 systems' worth, with close to 200 NES games alone), whose lo-bit FX then become the source material for more music still. After six months, they'd made five albums.
