RevoltRevolt’s Latah Nights follows in the
vein of noise-soaked pop and driving rhythms established on the Boise, Idaho
mainstay’s debut effort, Chordata, but takes the band into far more
nuanced sonic dimensions. Returning to the studio with famed (Mudhoney, Presidents of USA, Young Fresh Fellows) producer
Conrad Uno afforded the band a chance to use their previous work and extensive road experience as a starting point to blaze new
territory, drawing the listener into a more evolved journey of the musical
spectrum, and exploring new depths of lyrical subtlety, from hook driven
noise-pop gems ("It Echoes On"), to dark meditations on life and
mortality ("Hell Has its Roads"). The release of Latah Nights finds
RevoltRevolt as a band at the height of their craft, sights aimed on an
ever-expanding horizon of artistic discovery.

RevoltRevolt formed in 2007, headed by front man Chris Bock,
a seasoned veteran of the Boise music scene, backed by fellow Boisean Jason
Serna on drums, and Seattle bassist Ben Brunn of The Nevada Bachelors. For the
next year and a half, the band toured the western states extensively, honing
their sound and preparing material for their debut album, Chordata,
recorded by producer Conrad Uno, of Presidents of USA fame. Released in 2009 by
Spark and Shine, the record firmly established the band’s driving, noise
drenched, but surprisingly nuanced sound, garnering comparisons to such acts
as Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, and Guided by Voices. Without
hesitation, the band proceeded on a brutal touring schedule that took them on
six trips across the country, culminating in a string of 43 US shows with
Warner Bros. artists Built to Spill.
Upon return from the Built to Spill tour, RevoltRevolt took
some time to work on new material, and Bock soon found himself touring through
a series of personnel changes, including a rotation of drummers and a short
time with a new bassist. When the dust settled, Chris Bock and Ben Brunn
remained as original members, joined by drummer Ben Wieland of Jumping Sharks,
and guitarist Ralph Mugot of Hungry for More. With the new lineup, RevoltRevolt
headed out on a western states tour with Jumping Sharks, including unofficial
SXSW shows in Austin, Texas. RevoltRevolt used this time to hone their live
sound and prepare for release of their blistering second album, Latah
Nights.
