JAN Releases New Video, Debut Album Out 11/13!

The track begins with Talon's ethereal, choral-like vocals before switching gears and heading in a shoegaze-y, grunge direction with a touch of riot grrrl.”

JAN is the new solo project from Kim Talon, known for being the latter half of art-rock band Eagle and Talon. Produced by John Goodmanson (Blonde Redhead, The Gossip, Sleater-Kinney) at Seattle’s London Bridge Studios, JAN will release her self-titled debut album on November 13th. The record packs a mean punch with riot grrrl-infused vocals, fuzzy guitars, and blissed-out grunge rhythms.

Opening track “Work For The City” features buzzing guitar and bass lines beneath Kim’s theatrical vocals. The track’s new video invites viewers to witness a strange day in the life of the singer, as she performs the song surrounded by a crowd of admirers. You can check out the video where it premiered with Under The Radar today or HERE, and we encourage you to post & share!

Album track “Red Crust Ow” immediately breaks into dueling post-punk guitar, while the melancholic “All Of These Igloos“ has a sweet melody led by simple piano plucks. The distorted guitar and running bass of “How To Beast” build to an explosion of growling vocals.

Having collaborated with Reggie Watts and toured with Sia and Obi Best among others, Kim is now joined by Chloe Saavedra (Smoosh) and Melinda Parks (Har Mar Superstar) for her live shows. JAN will be on tour in Fall 2012 --stay tuned for North American dates coming soon!
