Immigrant Union (feat. Brent DeBoer of Dandy Warhols) LP

"I did find myself turning to my friend today eagerly asking 'Immigrant Union, you must see them.' "
—Unpaved

Immigrant Union, a Melbourne-based six-piece, consists of Brent DeBoer (The Dandy Warhols), Bob Harrow (The Lazy Sons), Peter Lubulwa (Galvatrons), Dave Mudie (Kitchen Knife Wife), Bonez (Thommy and the Tanks) and Courtney Barnett (The Olivettes). Their impeccable songwriting, projected through the grimy lenses of country, blues and psychedelic rock, is expertly showcased on this, their self-titled debut LP. It follows up The Winter EP, a stunning introductory to the band's rock and blues sound that was released independently earlier in the year. “We're all fans of Neil Young and Gram Parsons.", DeBoer explains.

Mess and Noise sums up the band's genesis perfectly: "After meeting at Melbourne's Cherry Bar and discovering their mutual appreciation for strumming classic country on acoustic guitars, the Dandy Warhols' drummer Brent DeBoer and The Lazy Sons' singer Bob Harrow recruited keyboardist Peter 'Gamma' Lubulwa of The Galvatrons to record together...The reason we named the band Immigrant Union was because Gamma is Ugandan, and Bob immigrated to America when he was a kid and lived in New Hampshire for quite a few years, and then immigrated back to Australia. And obviously I've immigrated to Australia recently. So we were looking at each other, and just went with Immigrant Union."

The continuous string of live shows in Australia has earned the band rave reviews. Although Melbourne is home, the band traveled to DeBoer's former home of Portland, Oregon to record their debut S/T  full-length album with producer Gregg Williams (Sheryl Crow, The Dandy Warhols, Blitzen Trapper); it is out October 2nd in the US via the band.
