BRANES is a self-described hyper-pop, maximal
synth duo from Los Angeles, CA. Originally forming as a performance art based
project in late 2010, BRANES has relentlessly toured with a live show that is
aggressive and conceptual. Ivy’s love for
early goth music and Susan’s
background in mutant punk creates a sound that is inherently genuine and
absurd.
The name ‘BRANES’ stems from theories in cosmology and refers to massive, multi-dimensional, oscillating objects that construct reality. Aside from grappling with theoretical physics, there are many reoccurring themes in BRANES’ music referring to black holes, living in the void, social commentary on advances in technology, psychotic rampages, and child beauty pageants.
In support of their upcoming new album "Perfection Condition" (available October 10th on Burger Records), BRANES will be performing at the annual Drop Dead Festival in Berlin, Germany this Halloween (along side acts such as Lene Lovich, Kas Product, UK Decay and more), and have announced their upcoming record release show taking place October 13th at The Blue Star in Los Angeles.
