THE WAR IS OVER! WAR changes name to Vår, shares song on NPR & video on PItchfork

May 5th, 1945 marks the day the Nazi's were forced out of their occupation of Denmark. May 5th marks "Liberation Day" in Denmark. On Saturday, May 5th, NPR announced Danish duo WAR will now go by Vår.  In old Norse, Vår translates to spring.

Vår is Loke Rahbek (Sexdrome & co-owner of Posh Isolation) & Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (Iceage). Their music can be best be described as lo-fi dance with punk sensibilities, however the intention of the artists is far more in depth. "Vår started as a post industrial project releasing limited edition cassettes and now has become a multi media project, where in sound and image is of equal importance." says Rahbek.

NPR premiered a new song, entitled "In Your Arms (Final Fantasy)" & Pitchfork has the haunting video, along with an interview with Rahbek & Rønnenfelt, where they address the importance of video.
Vår will play their first US show on June 17th as part of Northside Festival. Sacred Bones will present the show at Glasslands. Also on the bill are Crystal Stilts, Amen Dunes, Warthog (Chris Hansell ex- The Men) &
Wymond Miles.

Sacred Bones will release their debut album in early 2013.

Watch the video for "In Your Arms (Final Fantasy)" directed by Kristian Emdal at Pitchfork.

"In Your Arms (Final Fantasy)" is available on Sacred Bones compilation, Todo Muere Vol. 2.

Their 1st 7in, At War For Youth is out now.

On September 15th, Sacred Bones will curate two nights at Incubate Festival in the Netherlands. Vår is set to play alongside The Men, Iceage, Amen Dunes, Lust for Youth & Lower.
