Atlas Genius Sign To WBR * Debut EP Out June 12th

THROUGH THE GLASS, THE DEBUT EP FROM AUSTRALIA'S ATLAS GENIUS, SET FOR JUNE 12 RELEASE BY WARNER BROS. RECORDS

LEAD SINGLE "TROJANS" HAS SOLD OVER 45,000 DOWNLOADS IN U.S. AND TOPPED ALT-NATION'S MOST REQUESTED CHART

"Like an invitation you weren't expecting to get, Atlas Genius knocks on your door and creeps into your peripheries in stealth mode," said Neon Gold shortly after the then-unsigned band put "Trojans" on SoundCloud last year, offering it for sale via TuneCore on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. "Fair warning: 'Trojans' will invade your head, all dressed up in a clever disguise of earnest vocals riding a hooky riff."

The Adelaide, Australia-based indie band has since signed with Warner Bros. Records, which will release its debut EP, Through The Glass, on June 12. The three-song collection will include Atlas Genius' breakout hit "Trojans," which had sold more than 45,000 downloads in the U.S. alone before the band was even signed. The band members are currently at work in their home studio on their full-length debut, which is due out this fall. U.S. tour dates will be announced soon.

The band wasn't in a rush to sign with a record label. In fact, it wasn't until about a month after the Neon Gold blog post that they even realized that Atlas Genius' inbox was full of inquiries fromlabels, publishers, lawyers, booking agents and management companies.

"We had begun to think that music was a pipedream and we had all gone back to university to pursue more realistic careers," recalls vocalist/guitarist Keith. Buoyed by the outpouring of interest, the three brothers - Keith, Steven and Michael Jeffrey - quickly got back to writing and recording more songs.

"Trojans" was named an iTunes "Single of the Week" in Australia and New Zealand. Stateside, things blew up in early 2012 for Atlas Genius, despite minimal promotional efforts from the unsigned band. "Trojans" spent four consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the listener-generated Alt-18 countdown of SiriusXM's Alt-Nation while single sales skyrocketed past 45,000 and anacoustic video of "Trojans"  premiered on MTV2 and the home pages of MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hive and MTV Buzzworthy. Finally, after months of communicating with numerous record labels via Skype, Atlas Genius came to the U.S. in February 2012 for meetings and, ultimately, they chose to sign with Warner Bros. Records.

NYLON praised Atlas Genius' "double whammy of high-flying pop melodies and instantly catchy lyrics" and Billboard tipped the band as part of "The Next Wave" of up-and-coming alternative bands. The three-track Through The Glass - produced, engineered and mixed by the band in their home studio - captures Atlas Genius' singular combination of sophisticated musicality and warm, wistful spirit. In addition to "Trojans," it features the shimmering"Symptoms" and "Back Seat," which blends its pulsing bass throb with a sweetly infectious beat and tender vocals that alternately soar and sigh.
