Brick + Mortar, the second of five bands in the Making Moves series, have released an exclusive stream of their track, "Bangs" on EARMILK.com today, May 22nd. Drexel University's MAD Dragon Records (MDR) and Motion City Soundtrack are pleased to announce Making Moves, a series of 7 inch releases by emerging artists, produced and curated by members of Motion City Soundtrack.  The Making Moves Series will be released jointly on MAD Dragon Records and Motion City Soundtrack's recently launched record label, The Boombox Generation. The unconventional two-piece, known as Brick + Mortar, will be releasing their Making Moves 7-inch on June 19th. This will contain two single tracks on 7-inch vinyl, as well as a bonus track released with the digital package.

Brick + Mortar are an indie rock drum & bass duo who fuse driving percussion, grooving bass, eclectic samples, and anthemic vocals to create a new world sound that is so fresh you truly need to hear it yourself. Consisting of Brandon Asraf and John Tacon, the duo have become a significant part of the musical and artistic culture of Asbury Park, NJ as they are one of the first electronic drum and bass pop duos to have such success in the area. Since middle school, the two bonded over their shared interest in the artistry of songwriting and as the band Brick + Mortar, they began to focus more heavily on the use of electronic samples in their music as well as relying less on improvisation and more on structured pop songs.

The duo began performing regularly up and down the New Jersey coast, building a reputation as one of the strongest live acts to come out of the state. Performing live with triggered samples creates a show like no other where all samples are physically altered and timed on the spot. Notable support for national acts include the likes of Galactic, Jimmy Eat World, H.R. [Bad Brains], and, Cymbals Eat Guitars. Concentrating on the quality of the music, Brick + Mortar have released one proper EP, 7 Years In The Mystic Room, as well as having a handful of singles on the Heatstroke (maxi-single).

Their upcoming release for the Making Moves series, which is supported in part by the Kal & Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies at Drexel University, will consist of three new unique tracks showcasing the talent of these two powerhouse musicians. Justin Pierre and Josh Cain of Motion City Soundtrack produced the tracks, along with Drexel's Music Industry Program alumnus, Dave Petit and undergrad Justin Chapman engineering the sessions. Coining the term "new world secret pop", Brick + Mortar fuse various styles such as reggae, funk, drum & bass, electronic, etc. Opening with the progressive rock heavy hitter, "Bangs", the catchy chorus and electronic synth will get you dancing from the beginning. Immediately transitioning into the surf rock track, "Old Boy", the uplifting beat and reggae undertones serve for an immediate favorite on the release. Closing up with "Other Drugs", the clever lyrics and intricate percussion leaves the listener only craving more.

Asraf states, "Working with Josh and Justin feels natural. They got who we are and brought out something special in our songwriting. It's great to be part of something so many students gave their time to help build."
