Regina Spektor Adds US & Worldwide Solo Dates, What We Saw From The Cheap Seats out May 29 on Sire/WBR

“The classically trained pianist’s new single is a wickedly baroque paean to decaying classics. Spektor charges over chase-scene scales and spitball synths [on ‘All The Rowboats’].”—Rolling Stone

“On ‘Rowboats,’ Spektor finally matches her memorable lyrical tales to music that’s just as, if not more than, dramatic.”—Billboard

“With minor-key pianos, machine-gun drums, and thoughtful musings on museum paintings, she goes form pixiesh to serious, all in three and a half very dramatic minutes [of ‘All The Rowboats’].”—Entertainment Weekly

“Ms. Spektor can write pop songs when she wants to. But pop is far from the only thing she wants.”
The New York Times

“A singular songwriting voice that spans genres and personas with grace and apparent ease.”

Regina Spektor kicks off the release of her much-anticipated new studio album What We Saw From The Cheap Seats with a worldwide tour. Beginning in May with a string of dates on the East Coast, Spektor will cross the Atlantic for performances throughout Europe including a sold out show at Royal Albert Hall in London and her first concert in her native Russia. The new Sire/Warner Bros. Records release is her first work of new material since 2009’s far. The is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes. The video for “All The Rowboats,” which received a worldwide premiere on YouTube March 29 is also available on iTunes. What We Saw From The Cheap Seats was recorded over an eight-week period this past summer in Los Angeles. Writing each of the 11 tracks on the album, Spektor arrived at the session with a collection of new compositions, while others were pulled from earlier periods. She and Elizondo fleshed out instrumentation and sought to make each of the songs stand alone sonically. Most of the songs were recorded live with Spektor on piano and vocals, while additional instrumentation was added to these original takes. Of working with Spektor, Elizondo says “Regina Spektor is that rare artist that continues to surprise. Just when you think you have her figured out, she knocks you out with something completely different. It’s that spirit that drives this record. Each song takes you on a journey that only Regina is capable of providing. She has truly outdone herself.”

Spektor studied classical piano and garnered a loyal live following in New York before self- releasing two albums. Her breakthrough album Soviet Kitsch was released by Sire Records in 2004 followed by Begin to Hope in 2006. Certified gold in the U.S., Begin to Hope included worldwide fan favorites “Fidelity,” “Samson,” “On The Radio” and “Better.” In 2009 Spektor recorded far and in 2010 Live from London, which was laid down at the Hammersmith Apollo Theater during the fartour.
