GDP Announces New Album, "Realistic Expectations," out January 26th on Division East!
Inspired by Malt Liquor, GG Allin and other assorted illegal activities, Brunswick New Jersey's GDP is coming at you nasty style... his gravely flow should strike a chord with fans of Necro and Onyx as GDP is kicking rear-ends and taking names. - URB
Memorable tunes, original sounding, diverse beats and a flow that's rugged but punctual and intelligible - Punknews
That sarcastic lisp and the way he kinda chuckles through all his rhymes evoke nothing less than the early Beastie Boys. - PopMatters
New Jersey's GDP began stirring up a mix tape buzz in 2006 before his acclaimed 2007 debut Involvement on Division East Records. GDP recorded two songs in 2008 for a split 7” and US tour with Florida rockers Spanish Gamble (Paper and Plastick Records). The music video for “Succumb” which appeared on the split release quickly earned him worldwide notoriety.
Citing influences everywhere from Slick Rick to Ian MacKaye, GDP has performed alongside some of the biggest names in hip hop including Wu Tang Clan, Rah Digga, Large Professor, C-Rayz Walz and Grandmaster Caz. Meanwhile, he's also established himself in hardcore, punk, indie and electro music circuits, performing nationwide on bills with Skeletonwitch, Captain Ahab, Trap Them, Dead to Me, Japanther, OCDJ and more.
GDP digitally released his new full-length album Realistic Expectations in June 2009 on Division East/Say-10 Records, and has just announced its physical release of January 26th, 2010. The 14-song masterpiece showcases GDP's cynical yet sincere demeanor and meticulously crafted, raw lyricism in all its glory. Realistic Expectations comes packaged as a double disc along with a 30-minute DVD titled “Expect Real,” a collection of behind the scenes footage, live performances and plenty of extra features.
Since Realistic Expectations' release, GDP has literally lived life on the road. His relentless touring schedule is crucial to his quest to merge like-minded, independent communities. GDP plans to travel to the land down under (Australia) this February to further spread his word. 2010 will also see GDP teaming up for a mix tape with Young Zee of Outsidaz fame, a debut album from his super group Radio Activity, a new GDP solo album and of course, more touring.
