Los Angeles, CA – As things slow down for most during the holiday season, Strung Out is quite busy and has a number of announcements. After a string of successful US tour dates that wrapped in November, including a date in Costa Rica, the long-standing punks have announced a handful of dates this January (see tour dates below). The band will head to Hawaii on December 11th to play the official kick off party for Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing, and on January 15th the group will also be making a special appearance at the annual NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Convention, performing at the Fender booth. The band compiled live footage from their recent US tour to make the video for “Carcrashradio,” which can be viewed exclusively at ShockHound.com (shockhound.com/features/903-exclusive--watch-strung-out-s-new--carcrashradio--video). Touring in support of their seventh studio album, Agents Of The Underground (9/09, Fat Wreck Chords), dates in Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the rest of the US will be announced shortly.

On Agents Of The Underground, Strung Out teamed up with producer and long-time fan Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Social Distortion, Ignite) to record 11 blistering technical punk anthems that are being heralded by both fans and critics as the band’s best since their 1994 full-length debut, Another Day In Paradise. The release of Agents celebrates the band’s 20th anniversary, and vocalist Jason Cruz says “We’ve done a lot of touring and made a lot of records, and we have learned A LOT. Cameron was good at balancing what people want to hear from Strung Out, and at the same time, letting the band move forward. This album is the culmination of everything we’ve done.”

The band’s return-to-form release has been garnering much critical acclaim, with SPIN.com claiming “Agents Of The Underground… has all the double-time drums and big choruses and devil’s-horns-worthy guitar leads you could ask for from a bunch of fellas who’ve been at this longer than some of their contemporaries have been alive,” and REVOLVER commenting “'Black Crosses' and 'Ghetto Heater'… the same relentless Bad Religion gallop that made Strung Out punk-rock heroes…”. AOL Music’s NOISECREEP added “The album is packed wall to wall with shred-guitar flourishes, huge vocal hooks and some of the most intense rhythm section work this side of tech metal,” [which earned drummer Jordan Burns a feature story in DRUM! Nov ’09] while ALTERNATIVE PRESS says, “blazing, guitar harmony-driven tracks like 'Heart Attack' sound like Bad Religion covering Iron Maiden, while breakdown dominated tracks like 'Dead Spaces' finally see the band writing music that’s heavy without being heavy-handed.”
