Das Racist: New Video, New EP, Shows, etc in 2010

DECONSTRUCTIONALIST-RAP DUO DAS RACIST SHATTERS STEREOTYPES OF STONER-RAP WITH HARD WORK
2010 BRINGS ON EP, MIXTAPE, VIDEO AND TOURING FOR RAP DUO

Them boys are up to something again! This past month Das Racist organized the New York Times-approved MinorityFest in their hometown of Brooklyn. The night consisted of a panel discussion on race moderated by Das Racist, comedy sets from six up-and-coming comedians including Ali Wong and Kumail Nanjiani, and performances by the boys themselves amongst others. Earfarm.com called the night "a good time – and different. Think college dorm party meets intellectual salon."

Fresh off the heels of that project Das Racist is putting the immigrant work ethic they've inherited to good use and pressing onward with a busy winter. This past week they premiered their video for "Rainbow in the Dark," directed by frequent collaborator Jordan Fish (jordan-fish.com), on Pitchfork Media. They also recently launched their website, http://www.dasracist.net, which was designed by Fish.

Prefix Mag recently stated "Now we just need an album from the band in 2010." Ask and ye shall receive! This coming January Das Racist is poised to release their debut EP, Sit Down, Man on their own imprint Greedhead Records. Along with five other joints, the EP will include their inescapable hit "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell," which was MTV News' 10th Best Song of 2009. Greedhead Records will also collaborate with Portland, Oregon-based Lasercave (http://www.lasercave.biz/) to put out the debut EP from SAFE (http://www.myspace.com/safesafesafesafesafe) in the form of mp3s, cassette tapes, and custom made VHS' by the artist.

As if that wasn't enough, the boys will be playing shows across New York, including:

January 19 at Highline Ballroom (431 W. 16th Street, NYC) with Gordon Voidwell, Tanlines and Mickey Factz

January 23 at Glasslands (289 Kent Ave, Brooklyn) with Chicago's BBU (Bin Laden Blowin’ Up)

and they will make their way to their alma mater Wesleyan University for a February 12 date. Come March, you can see them at SXSW and by then they'll have even more tunes for you to rock to on the train with their Shut Up, Dude Mixtape set to release prior to then.

Don't miss the act Art Forum recently called "critical-race-theory prankstas". For more information on Das Racist you can visit http://www.dasracist.net or hit them up on Twitter at www.twitter.com/dasracist. Not enough? Check out their blog: http://gordongartrelle.blogspot.com.
