KARNIVOOL to tour U.S. in March 2010

ANNOUNCE SPRING CO-HEADLINING U.S. TOUR
WITH FAIR TO MIDLAND & SXSW

BIG DAY OUT IN JANUARY & EUROPE IN FEBRUARY

FULL LENGTH “SOUND AWAKE” OUT FEBRUARY 16, 2010
VIA SIN/SONYMUSIC INDEPENDENT NETWORK

New York, NY – KARNIVOOL are ecstatic to announce their spring co-headlining tour of the U.S. with Fair To Midland beginning in March of 2010. This will be the Australian quintet’s first full jaunt across the States in three years. The trek will begin at the South By Southwest Music Festival in Austin March 16-21, where the band were accepted in the first round of showcasing artists and have already confirmed four performances. All venues are not yet confirmed, but after starting in the south and heading up the east coast to NYC, Philly and Boston, the VOOL will then head west through Cleveland, Minneapolis and Denver before wrapping up in San Francisco and LA.

This tour will come on the heels of the release of Karnivool’s full-length Sound Awake on February 16, 2010 via SIN/SonyMusic Independent Network.

Currently available in Australia and the UK, Sound Awake has earned KARNIVOOL features and a FOUR STAR review in Rolling Stone and two features and ‘4 Ks’ from Kerrang! The album also came in #25 in Rock Sound’s ‘Top 75 Albums of 2009.’

After recently completing a UK tour with Skindred and a headlining tour of Australia, Karnivool are set to do BIG DAY OUT with Muse, The Mars Volta & Mastodon in January and a European headlining tour before their trip to the U.S.

“We were absolutely overwhelmed with how far people had traveled to make it to our gigs in New York and LA this past September,” notes Karnivool bassist Jon Stockman. “We figured we really needed to get back as soon as possible and are absolutely pumped to be heading to the States again!”

Produced by Forrester Savell (The Butterfly Effect, Mammal, Dead Letter Circus), Sound Awake is kaleidoscopic & multi-dimensional. It delivers the band’s trademark sound and takes the listener to new heights as it ventures into innovative exploratory territory.

"Introducing the progressive rock album of the year... They have a knack of
making perfect melodic sense out of strange time signatures and complex, layered intricacies that is simply on a higher plane to others."
- Guitarist Magazine (4½ Stars)

“The band manages to hit a multitude of senses by using abstract textures, soothing melodies, powerful frit, and all-out playing chops, all to take the listeners on a hugely emotive musical journey… If you’re looking to get your socks rocked off, you don’t have to look much further than Sound Awake.”
- Elliott Politte, Guitar EDGE

Karnivool release Sound Awake on February 16, 2010 via SIN/SonyMusic Independent Network, distributed by RED. SIN is a division of Sony Music International and releases international repertoire in the United States.
