Pulling out all of the stops for 2008, Wild in the Country is proud to announce that Bjork will headline this year’s event. It will be her only UK festival appearance in the whole of 2008.
Last year Bjork chose to headline Glastonbury, while this year she decides upon the more intimate, boutique vibe of Wild in the Country’s Main Stage. Bjork’s credentials go on and on with a career spanning more than 2 decades: she’s been nominated for 13 Grammy’s, a Golden Globe and was Best Actress winner at Cannes for Lars Von Triers ‘Dancer In The Dark’. 'Bjork’s latest studio album 'Volta' has shown that she is a vital a force as ever with the NME declaring 'Volta is a thunderous return and as enchanting as Debut'. In short, Bjork IS a global superstar. Always experimental and forward thinking, her roots are firmly placed in electronica as she effortlessly spans folk, pop, jazz and haunting ambient sounds with an ethereal quality.
This is a chance to see a truly legendary and celebrated talent in a unique location.
The Wild Arena is headlined by Australian dance music pioneers Pendulum. They will be performing live with new material from their forthcoming album ‘In Silico’. Pendulum sold more than 225,000 units of their debut artist album ‘Hold Your Colour’ and have remixed for such respected artists as The Prodigy.
The first round of diverse acts to be announced also includes… Sasha, Foals, Late of The Pier, Killa Kela, Metronomy, Plump DJs, Dixon and Norman Jay.
Wild in the Country 2007 was a mammoth event with incredible headliners such as Underworld and Hot Chip. Now organisers Renaissance and Wild head back to the beautiful heritage site of Knebworth Park, which is within 45 minutes of central London by car and less than 20 minutes on a direct train (Stevenage) for their 2008 extravaganza, which is longer, bigger and better! Over 18 fun-filled hours, six cutting-edge marquee’d arenas and a main stage (outdoor) will play host to the most exciting and diverse collection of electronic artistes ever assembled in the UK. Set against a flamboyant riot of décor, revelers can also enjoy the Anglo-centric Victorian fun fair; an enchanted wood; ice cream and a wide variety of food stalls; performance artistes; the Twisted Tea Room and much, much more - all set against one of the countries most magical backdrops.
With the rural picturesque location Wild in the Country is an event that ticks all boxes; supplying a festival that is both musically cutting edge as well as a day of special merry-making and mischief.
