RA RETURNS WITH ORIGINAL LINEUP - FOURTH STUDIO ALBUM "CRITICAL MASS" OUT TODAY Stream "Critical Mass" on MSN Music 'Listening Booth' |
LOS ANGELES - Veteran alternative metal act Ra has released its fourth studio album, and first since 2008, Critical Mass today. Critical Mass can be purchased online via iTunes at:https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/critical-mass/id719181034 and Amazon.com at:http://www.amazon.com/Critical-Mass/dp/B00FKNBO9S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381855113&sr=8-1&keywords=ra+critical+mass. The new record marks the return of the band's original lineup - guitarist/vocalist Sahaj Ticotin, bassist P.J. Farley, guitarist Ben Carroll and drummer Skoota Warner. "I believe this record to be the most complete album we've ever made, but also the heaviest," said Ticotin. "There is a conscious effort here to be more respectful of hard rock/metal roots and less on being too touchy feely. I really wanted this record to feel intense, even on the more light hearted songs. For once I don't feel as if I compromised on any aspect of the writing for this record." Fans can stream Critical Mass in its entirety on MSN Music's 'Listening Booth' at:http://music.msn.com/music/listeningbooth/, as well as Loudwire.com, Pandora and more. Two new tracks "Supermegadubstep" and "Anything You Want" are also streaming as part of the Spotify New Release playlist this week and on the Radio.com and Music Choice 'Rock' channels. ![]()

Always known for having a passionate, supportive fan base, Critical Mass was funded by a Kickstarter.com campaign that helped generate over $32,000 to record and press the album. "The Kickstarter was a surprise on many levels," added Ticotin. "Not only in the amount of money we raised, but mainly in the intensity of the demand. People were genuinely aggressive about making sure we made another record. As cliché as it sounds, without that level of energy, I don't know how well this record would have come out. Their passion directly inspired the songs on this record from beginning to end. It is truly amazing." Considered by many to be the most underrated hard rock band still releasing music today, Ra's record sales have topped 400,000 in the U.S., with the band's three previous studio albums all debuting in the Billboard Top 200. The group has toured with the likes of Shinedown, Seether, Stone Sour, Saliva, Halestorm and more while producing six Top 40 singles on the Billboard Rock chart. Ra's last radio single "Supernova" in 2009 received significant airplay and was the most played song on Sirius XM Octane for 14 Weeks. Stay tuned for more information on Ra and Critical Mass. |
