LVL UP Debut "Cross The Sea" on Stereogum // Announce Tour Dates

LVL UP Debut "Cross The Sea" on Stereogum + Tour Dates
LVL UP Ready Split 7" with PORCHES. on Birdtapes/Double Double Whammy

The old saying “great things come in pairs” has never been so true now that two of New York’s finest indie pop/rock bands, LVL UP and PORCHES. are getting ready to release a split 7” viaBirdtapes and Double Double Whammy Records. A pair of great bands, a pair of great labels, and a pair of incredible songs from each. The split EP will be released on November 26th(vinyl/digital) and is available for pre-order via Birdtapes online store.

LVL UP began at New York’s Purchase University back in 2010 as an outlet for Dave Benton andMike Caridi’s lo-fi pop songs, focusing on brevity while exploring various recording techniques that only added to their songcraft. Shortly after the band were joined by Ben SmithNick Corboand Greg Rutkin. The band released their stunning debut Space Brothers in 2011 and have been building a loyal and dedicated fanbase ever since. Smith left the band in 2012 and LVL UP continued moving forward as a quartet, expirementing with their sound in the studio to create 2013’s Extra Worlds EP. Combining a mix of lo-fi and hi-fi techniques, the sound is warm yet warped, buzzing and gritty yet never harsh. There is a delicate balance to LVL UP’s soaring riffs and sincere songwriting.  Elements of indie pop and rock music work together to create memorable songs from catchy melodies and fuzzy guitars that never waste a moment.

Stereogum premiered “Cross The Sea,” the first single from the upcoming split, stating “The SUNY-born group makes skuzzy power pop in the vein of Guided By Voices or Weezer – it’s the sort of music that makes you want to pump your fist and yell every lyric at the top of your lungs”. Anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing the band live knows, this isn’t too far from the truth. Speaking of seeing LVL UP live, the band are heading out on tour beginning today, playing dates with Little Big League, The World is a Beautiful Place…, and Pile as they make their way down to Gainesville, FL for The Fest. See the complete dates below.
