Philadelphia’s The War On Drugs kick off 2012 with a debut performance tonight, Tuesday January 10th on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon! Its an ideal and fitting way to begin the year for the ‘Drugs, especially following their strong finish to 2011, including a tour of sold out dates in December and recognition on an extensive number of year-end lists. Additionally, the band will head to the WNYCstudios tomorrow, Tuesday, January 11th, for a performance and interview on “Soundcheck.” This is certain to be just the first of many great things to come for the band in 2012.

As previously announced, Secretly Canadian will release The War On Drugs’ “Come to the City” 7-inch single on January 24th, featuring Slave Ambient’s sprawling centerpiece and the previously unreleased “Don’t Fear The Ghost.” With its discerning arrangement and mesmerizing tone, “Don’t Fear The Ghost” fits perfectly in The War On Drugs’ singular catalogue.

“Slave Ambient is both an organic, flowing record born from experimentation and an album where individual tunes can stand alone as anthems. . . The result is a big album that's lined with subtle tinges of percussion and noise that give it shape.”
– Pitchfork [#39 in “The Top 50 Albums of 2011”]

“a fascinating little album”
– MTV [#11 in “The 20 Best Albums of 2011”]

“the definitive recorded statement that bridges the sensibilities of stadium rock with the experimental thrash of Basement Show U.S.A. The fact is, nothing in 2011 can match Slave Ambient.”
– Decibel Tolls [#1 in “The Year End List”]

“From the opening ‘Best Night’ to the closing ‘Black Water Falls,’ singer and sonic architect Adam Granduciel takes painstaking care with his trademark arpeggiated guitar sound, one song flowing into the next like a smartly sequenced mixtape. It's heady, intoxicating music . . . “
– Philadelphia Inquirer [“10 albums that popped to the top”]

Following a run of sold out shows in December, The War On Drugs continue touring in 2012, including North American dates with Sharon Van Etten and White Rabbits.
