"It’s clear this ain’t your ordinary rock record.
Lionize push boundaries, pacing their songs with precision... once they let
their songs seep into [your] psyche, it will be tricky to get their sharp hooks
out."
-Alternative Press
"Many bands are trying to capture the independent
spirit, yet sound exactly like the next American Idol It
is refreshing to hear a band like Lionize recycle forgotten music with buckets
of originality."
-Minneapolis Examiner
"A band that plays music that’s hard to define but easy
to enjoy."
-Inland Empire Weekly
Fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed new
record, Superczar and The Vulture, on Pentimento Music
Company last month and a long stint on the road supporting such acts
as Lucero, Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, Clutch, and Corrosion
of Conformity, genre-bending reggae/rock band Lionize have
announced a full US tour with Maylene and the Sons of Disaster to
kick-off on January 25, 2012 in New Orleans, LA. "The fans' response
to the live show and new record have made every minute [of the band's constant
touring] worth it. It's really overwhelming to feel the amount of support we
have," says singer/guitarist Nate Bergman. "We think the songs
translate very well live."
Superczar and The Vulture, their fifth album studio,
and first on the Pentimento Music Company label , with
distribution by Redeye sees Lionize heading back to Magpie
Cage Recording Studio (Against Me!, The Promise Ring, Murder
By Death) to record with the legendary J. Robbins. On it,
they weave together the signature 70s-influenced heavy psych rock riffs with
reggae grooves and deeply soulful vocals the band is rapidly becoming known
for.
Lionize have made the first single off Superczar and
The Vulture, titled "Superczar", available for free
download and posting, please feel free to put it up on your site for fans
and grab it for yourself at http://pentimentomusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Lionize-Superczar.mp3
The pairing of Maylene and the Sons of Disaster and Lionize
on tour together "just makes sense," according to Bergman.
"Maylene and the Sons of Disaster are heavy and have a distinct groove,
they are Warped Tour vets [like Lionize] and have toured with
Clutch almost as much as we have." Lionize is especially excited to
get back to Arizona where they were forced to cancel some dates at the end of
this past summer.
