Melbourne-based
electronic band Cut Copy last night received a Grammy nomination in the
category of Best Dance/Electronica Release for 2011's long player Zonoscope.
This is their first Grammy nomination, and came as an utter surprise to the
boys, with Cut Copy frontman Dan Whitford tweeting his reaction: "Just
received news of Grammy nomination while scanning groceries at the supermarket...little
hard to concentrate. Can I finish this later?"
It's been a big week for Zonoscope - this past Sunday the album won Best
Dance Release at the ARIA Awards, Australia's annual recording industry awards.
Cut Copy performed their single 'Need You Now' with a 50 person choir at the
televised ceremony, and you can watch it here.
The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles
on February 12th, 2012, and will be broadcast live on CBS.
Cut Copy are Dan Whitford, Tim Hoey, Ben Browning, and Mitchell Scott.
